Located in Snygg Hall, the Chemistry Department has equipment and facilities compatible with an outstanding instructional and research program. Some of the major equipment available for use in our program includes: a Varian 300 MHz Inova nuclear magnetic resonance (FT-NMR) spectrometer, a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer, atomic absorption, ICP, dispersive IR and FTIR, visible, and fluorescence spectrophotometers, a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer system, refrigerated centrifuges, as well as equipment for electrophoresis.
The department has over 50 computers for student use located in several computational laboratories or associated with specific instruments. Fifteen computers together with a dedicated server are components of an NSF supported computerized general chemistry laboratory and are used for both spreadsheet analysis and computerized data acquisition.
