Program Requirements

Mathematics

Proficiency tests in mathematics are available for purposes of placement and advisement. Students who will need calculus in their studies can take a test in basic algebraic skills to aid in placement.
Mathematics Proficiency Tests
A proficiency test which measures basic algebraic and trigonometric skills is available. Students desiring an indicator of probable success in calculus should take this test. Inquiries for more information should be directed to the Chair of the Department of Mathematics.

Mathematics Major - Arts and Sciences, B.A. Degree42-47cr

B. Electives9 cr
  • Nine hours of 300- or 400-level mathematics courses, under advisement, three hours of which must be at the 400-level. Excluded courses are: Mat 304, 306, 307, and 392.
C. Cognate Requirements3 cr
  • Csc 212 - Principles of Programming

    Note: a C- grade or better must be earned in all 200 level mathematics courses credited to the major.
