Oswego's dual Commencement ceremonies will unfold at Saturday, May 15, in the Campus Center arena and convocation hall. The 9 a.m. morning ceremony will celebrate graduates of the College of Liberal and Sciences and the School of Communication, Media and the Arts. Graduates of the School of Business and School of Education will take part in the afternoon ceremony, starting at 1:30 p.m.
Commencement is a celebrated occasion for graduates, family, friends, faculty and others to mark the outstanding achievements of our students. Due to a high demand that needs to be accommodated, each graduate is allotted five tickets for the ceremony. These tickets are attained when a graduation candidate picks up his or her cap and gown at the College Store.
The formal Commencement ceremony features a procession of faculty in academic robes, concise acknowledgement of students graduating with honors, and graduates crossing the stage in recognition of their achievement. A professional photographer will document students as they participate. More details for visitors can be found on the Guest Information page.
Seating for our guests is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors with physical disabilities who will need special seating or other arrangements should call 312-3358 in advance.
On the night preceding Commencement, all graduates and family are invited to one of Oswego's oldest traditions, the Torchlight Dinner and Ceremony. This elegant dinner buffet will begin at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center arena, and advance reservations are required. The candlelight Torchlight Ceremony begins at 9 p.m., location to be announced. For more information, visit our Torchlight page.
A campus map with Commencement traffic and parking information is available online (287 KB pdf).
Those unable to attend can watch it as a live Webcast.
