Journalism for the 21^st Century

A Weeklong Session of Half-days Devoted to Taking Media Skills to the Next Level

This session will combine the traditional standards of the press with the multi-media nature of today’s and future journalistic outlets. Students will expand and improve their journalism skills to take back to their high schools and into their college experience.

 

Learn to:

·       Hone your skills for finding news and turning it into a story
        package;

·       Boost your interviewing skills;

·       Understand the First Amendment and the Freedom of
        Information Act and how they provide the foundation for the
        news profession;

·       Write clear, concise sentences that show action and detail;

·       Add an audio and/or video element to your story package;

·       Produce your story for print and for the Web;

·       Fact check information in your stories and on the Web;

·       Work on deadline!
