Master of Arts (MA) Human Computer Interaction
With the increasing infusion of complex technology into our everyday lives, the study of HCI has emerged as the "discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of the major phenomena surrounding them (ACM SIGCHI).
Extensive studio and internship opportunities will provide students with the optimal experience for successful placement upon graduation.

Master of Arts (MA) History
The Department of History offers graduate courses for individuals enrolled in the MA program in History as well as students in other graduate programs. The MA in History has been designed to provide students with knowledge of history and training in historical research for a variety of careers including teaching at the community college or high school level, law, public and government service, publishing, museum work, law enforcement, diplomacy, research and many others. The program also prepares students to apply to doctoral programs in History.

Master of Science (MS) Chemistry
The program is based on the conviction that the needs of students are best met in a program where much individual attention is possible. The course training is equivalent to the standards set for the Ph.D., regardless of whether the M.S. is to be terminal or preparatory to the Ph.D. degree.
The department currently offers a thesis option and a non-thesis option. However, both options require the completion of a research project.

NEW! A Professional Science Master’s Program! The Professional Science Master's is an innovative, new graduate degree designed to allow students to pursue advanced training in chemistry, while simultaneously developing workplace skills highly valued by employers. This non-thesis degree prepares students for career opportunities in businesses utilizing advanced chemistry courses coupled with internship and selected business courses.
Professional Master’s programs consist of two years of academic training in an emerging or interdisciplinary area, along with a professional component that may include internships and cross-training in business and communications. All have been developed in concert with industry and are designed to dovetail into present and future professional career opportunities.

Five Year Combined Degree Program in Psychology (B.A./M.B.A. ) The Psychology BA/MBA program is a multi-disciplinary program offered jointly by the Department of Psychology and the School of Business and is designed to prepare Oswego psychology graduates for careers in business. School of Communication, Media and the Arts
Master of Arts (MA) Art
Studio Art Emphasis
The Department offers opportunity to study in a variety of media including Ceramics, Drawing, Design, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. Program studies also include specific attention to the latest developments in Art Theory, Criticism and History. Students are expected to work intensively in hands-on experiences conducted in well-equipped studio facilities. Through discussions and critiques, students advance through to their final exhibition.
Graphic Design Emphasis
Students in the BFA Graphic Design program concentrate on the study and practice of contemporary graphic design theory, techniques and application. The Graphic Design program prepares graduates for positions in the visual communications industry. Students use state-of-the-art computer workstations and peripheral devices in a hands-on studio environment to create a wide range of graphic design projects.

We are offering new courses focusing on specializations in Gerontology , Trauma and Medical Information Systems.
Introduction to Gerontology
In response to the National and Regional need for professionals to work
in the growing field of gerontology, SUNY Oswego has been pro-active in
offering coursework in this area. The non-degree Graduate level course
is Introduction to Gerontology is the first course in a series of
offerings devoted to education and training in the theories,
philosophies, issues, processes and models of gerontology. Students
will move from discussions of theoretical and applied understanding of
working with geriatric populations.
This
course and the additional offerings in the semesters to follow, are
targeted toward professionals in such diverse fields as nursing,
physical therapy, counseling, long-term care administration,
recreation, housing, insurance and medicine, just to name a few.

Ethno-Cultural Aspects of Trauma
Trauma is a universal experience and training students to be competent
in service delivery and policy decisions regarding trauma-affected
populations is a critical need for the public health infrastructure.
This course Ethno-Cultural Aspects of Trauma will examine the
psychological effects of racial and ethnic identity on Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD). in this course you will look at the general
ideas of identity development and its effects of PTSD symptomology from
a psychological basis.
Students
with Undergraduate Degrees and Master’s Degrees (or Ph.D’s and PsyD’s)
in various disciplines such as Nursing, Public Health, Social Work,
Human Services, Psychology and Counseling will benefit from the
specialized knowledge.

Medical Information Systems
An introduction to issues, technologies, and practices in medical and
health information systems. Topics include terminology, medical and
health regulations and law; management and integration of data for
patients, clinicians, nursing and support staff, hospitals, laboratory and
clinician results, medical educators and insurance companies; security and
privacy; workflow analysis and system design; human factors; telemedicine;
and emerging trends in e-medicine. Students engage in one or more projects
applying computing and information technologies in one or more of these
areas. This course is designed for students in both the allied health
fields and those with backgrounds in
information or computer science or engineering. This not only provides a
learning environment representative of Medical Systems in practice,
but also will give all students the hands-on opportunity to learn how
to be a 'liason' between the two professions.
