Human Computer Interaction Program

The Human Computer Interaction (HCI) program at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a tenure track Assistant Professor position.

Review Date:  Review of applications will begin January 4, 2010 and will continue until the position is filled.

Salary:  Commensurate with rank and experience.

Date of Appointment:   August, 2010

Description of Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in HCI and undergraduate courses in cognitive psychology, human factors and cognitive science.

Required Qualifications:  A Ph.D. no later than Spring 2011 and evidence of teaching and scholarly potential.  The successful candidate will be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D., demonstrated ability to involve students in research projects, and supervise students’ external projects; commitment to promote students’ ability to succeed in multicultural and global communities.

Description of Department:  The HCI program (http://www.oswego.edu/hci) is an interdisciplinary program among the departments of Psychology, Computer Science, Graphic Design and Information Science.  The program offers an MA in HCI and a 5-year BA/MA Psychology/HCI program. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to a range of interdisciplinary centers on campus and participate in their activities. The HCI program has a dedicated interface laboratory that includes eye tracking equipment and shares additional facilities with the departments of Computer Science, Graphic Design and Psychology.  Further, the program is committed to fostering the success of students participating in the New York State Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-Step) and the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program.
