The Department of Biological Sciences at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level for a plant molecular biologist.
Review Date: Review of application materials will begin on January 5, 2010 and continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Date of Appointment: August 2010.
Description of Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching basic and advanced courses in plant biology, specialty courses in his/her area of expertise, and courses that contribute to the general biology curriculum and general education program for non-majors. Additional expectations are to initiate an extramurally funded research program, conduct research that involves undergraduates, and participate in service to the department and the university.
Required Qualifications: PhD (or completion of PhD no later than the end of fall semester 2010) with expertise in plant molecular biology. Commitment to excellence in teaching and providing meaningful learning experiences for a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral research experience, teaching experience, and grantsmanship. Applicants with experience in plant physiology, ecophysiology or plant microbial interactions will be preferred

Description of the Department of Biological Sciences: The Department of Biological Sciences offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biology and Zoology to approximately 500 majors. The department has recently revised its curricula and is planning for new facilities. Campus resources include a 400+ acre field station, an NSF-funded Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Center, a Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Center, and an Environmental Research Center. Further, the department is committed to fostering the success of students participating in the New York State Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-Step) and the Ronald E.
