Mohammad Mohammadi named Associate Provost for Undergraduate and Special Programs

Announcement from the Provost

To All Members of our Campus Community:

I am pleased to announce that Mohammad (Rameen) Mohammadi has agreed to serve as Associate Provost for Undergraduate and Special Programs.  A faculty member since 1985 and former department chairperson in Computer Science, Rameen has been serving successfully as Acting Associate Provost since January 2007.

As Acting Associate Provost, Rameen was instrumental in the approval of the software engineering program, facilitated our adoption of an on-line catalog, established a rolling four-year calendar committee, and developed a better process for projecting general education course availability.  He has expanded participation in Honors Week and worked with Faculty Assembly to formalize College Hour.  He has instituted program review processes for all the programs and services he oversees. He has engaged actively in sciences facilities planning.  His leadership campus-wide in groups like ORI is extensive.

In this position, Rameen regularly handles issues related to undergraduate curriculum development as well as dealing with many undergraduate student concerns.   He collaborates with Student Affairs on projects relating to Orientation and Compass activities.  Specific programs and services under his supervision include First Year Programs, Transfer Services, General Education, Honors Program, Experienced Based Education, Civic Engagement, Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, and the Registrar's Office. He works with SUNY System Administration on program development and assessment.

Rameen holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Framingham State College in Massachusetts and a master's degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He completed coursework for his doctorate in computer science at SUNY Binghamton, specializing in software engineering.

Please join me in congratulating Rameen on his new position.
