OSWEGO -- The SUNY Oswego College-Community Orchestra, under the direction of music Professor Juan F. La Manna, will perform Dmitri Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony at 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre on campus.
Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony has been hailed as one of the greatest of the 20th century symphonic literature, according to La Manna.
Also on the admission-free program will be the second movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's G Major Flute Concerto, performed by SUNY Oswego concerto competition winner Kristen Kane.
