PLANS ARE NOW WELL UNDER WAY
FOR OSWEGO STATE FALL CLASSIC

OSWEGO -- Oswego State and its partners from the national, state and local corporate and business community will launch the 11th Oswego State Fall Classic Sept. 14 and 15.
The Fall Classic continues its tradition of advancing higher education by raising funds for Oswego's Presidential Scholars Program, providing scholarships for students who have demonstrated academic success in their high schools or community colleges. Last year over 100 sponsors participated and produced a net of $209,043.67 in support of the program.
This year's event will feature an executive-in-residence program, in which Oswego State alumni will return to campus to share their expertise with students Thursday, Sept. 14.
Also on Thursday will be a luncheon for sponsors and distinguished guests featuring the theme "Oswego State: A Story of Success." Alumna M. Catherine Richardson, a partner in the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck and King, will be the emcee. Offering remarks will be junior Joe Storch, Presidential Scholar and Student Association vice president, and James W. Wright, who graduated from Oswego in 1974 and serves as a New York state senator. Ovation network founder Harold Morse, a 1961 graduate of Oswego, will offer the keynote address.
Friday recreational activities will offer opportunities for networking in a relaxed atmosphere at the fishing expedition on Lake Ontario, clay pigeon spectacular at Pathfinder Fish and Game Club, and golf tournament at Oswego Country Club.
A Fall Classic finale barbecue will be held at Fallbrook Recreation Center, where participants will celebrate the success of the Fall Classic over the past 11 years. Since the first Fall Classic in 1990, the annual event has generated gross receipts of more than $2 million.
A highlight of each year's Fall Classic is the president's reception for sponsors. This year, President Deborah F. Stanley and her husband, attorney Michael J. Stanley, will host the event at their Shady Shore home Thursday evening, and the Presidential Scholars will be introduced at that time. The Oswego County Building and Construction Trades Council will sponsor the reception.
Fall Classic sponsors may choose from eight levels of support. The Presidential Sponsors are ANR Pipeline Co., Enron, New York State Laborers' Employers Cooperation and Education Trust Fund, Sithe and Telergy.
