CHORUS BEGINS REHEARSALS
FOR HAYDN'S 'CREATION'
OSWEGO -- The Oswego Festival Chorus, a community chorus of 75 to 100 singers, will begin rehearsals at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Oswego State for its November performance of "The Creation" by Franz Joseph Haydn.
This oratorio, considered one of the best of all the choral literature, documents the six days of creation as told in the book of Genesis from the Bible and in "Paradise Lost" by John Milton.
The performance at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 will be with organ, chamber orchestra and professional soloists and will be held at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Oswego.
All interested singers can simply show up for their first rehearsal, held in Room 101 of Lanigan Hall at Oswego State, or they may call 312-2983 for more information.
There is a $6 registration fee. Music is available to borrow or purchase.
