CONSTELLATION ENERGY GROUP SUPPORTS COLLEGE FUND-RAISER

OSWEGO -- Constellation Energy Group has once again pledged its support as a major sponsor of the Oswego State Fall Classic. The 14th annual Fall Classic will take place Sept. 11 and 12 on campus and in the community.

Constellation joins other Presidential Sponsors, including Sithe, GE Power Systems and the New York State Laborers' Employers Cooperation and Education Trust Fund, in supporting the fund-raising effort.

"Constellation's generosity and commitment to the community will help make a SUNY Oswego education possible for some of the state's best and brightest students," said SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley. "We are grateful to them and all our loyal sponsors, who support our strong tradition of public education."

Constellation Energy recognizes that education is the foundation of personal and economic growth. "We are proud to support the Oswego State Fall Classic and be a part of the Presidential Scholarship program that helps students develop into future leaders," said Pete Katz, Constellation Generation Group senior vice president and vice president Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station. "We continually encourage our employees to join us in supporting education and our community."

A Fortune 500 company based in Baltimore, Constellation Energy Group owns energy-related businesses including a merchant power business that serves electrical load for wholesale and commercial and industrial customers in North America and the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (BGE), a regulated energy delivery company which serves more than 1.1 million electric customers and more than 600,000 natural gas customers in Central Maryland.

Since 1996, all proceeds from the Fall Classic have helped to fund the Presidential Scholars program, an initiative designed to attract academically accomplished students to SUNY Oswego. Since the fall semester of 1997, the said Classic has provided more than $1 million in scholarship money for 900 Presidential Scholarships. For 2003-04, the Presidential Scholarship has been increased to $4,400 per year.

The Fall Classic has generated gross receipts of more than $2.6 million since 1990 through the support of sponsors, who choose from eight levels of support. Presidential Sponsors give at the highest level of sponsorship.
