OSWEGO -- An East Syracuse man was arrested early Saturday, Dec. 1, for felony possession of marijuana, University Police at SUNY Oswego reported.
Officers responded at 2:14 a.m. to a request for assistance in a campus parking lot near the Lonis-Moreland-Mackin Complex. James P. Kurak, 23, of 206 Wembridge Dr. in East Syracuse had locked himself out of his Chevrolet Blazer and asked officers for help.
Police said they noticed a marijuana pipe in the vehicle and asked permission to search the rest of the vehicle. Kurak consented to the search, they said.
The subsequent search turned up just shy of 11.4 ounces of marijuana, resulting in the class E felony charge, according to the report. Officers said they found several small bags as well as a larger bag in the Blazer's console and two larger bags in a storage console in the rear of the vehicle.
Police impounded the vehicle and transported Kurak to Oswego Town Court for immediate arraignment. Kurak was remanded to the Oswego County Public Safety center in lieu of bail in the amount of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He has a Dec. 13 date to appear in Oswego City Court.
