JAZZ, POP GROUPS TO PRESENT CONCERT
OSWEGO -- The Solid State Jazz Orchestra and State
Singers at SUNY Oswego will present a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.
10, in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre.
The admission-free presentation will include many
classics from yesteryear, featuring works composed by Billy Strayhorn,
Vic Shoen, Cole Porter and others.
Solid State strives to present well-prepared
performances of big-band charts with careful attention to style and
detail, said Richard Holland of the college music department.
Literature includes both traditional and contemporary jazz works.
The State Singers are a pop vocal group that
performs a wide variety of pop and jazz styles. For this show, the
singers will perform an eclectic blend of music, from Christmas
favorites to modern classics.
