40TH ANNUAL STUDENT JURIED ART EXHIBITION OPENS MARCH 7 AT TYLER ART GALLERY
OSWEGO -- Outstanding work from SUNY Oswego students will be on display when the 40th annual Student Juried Art Exhibition opens with a public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Tyler Art Gallery.
The juried student work will open concurrently with "The Sculpture of Helene Brandt," featuring body enclosures and Mondrian variations. Both exhibitions will run through April 7. The gallery will be closed for spring recess, March 22 to 30.
The juried student exhibition will feature an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. during the reception. Selected work will earn purchase awards from the presidents of both the college and Student Association.
The exhibition will feature recent original artwork in the media of photography, ceramics, painting, graphic design, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. The annual art competition is open to any undergraduate student enrolled at SUNY Oswego. Invited jurors Tom Piche and Debora Ryan, curators at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, selected from a field of around 200 entries.
The Student Art Exhibition Committee sponsors both exhibitions with funds provided by the Student Association.
Those with disabilities who need assistance to attend any gallery event should call the gallery at 312-2113 in advance. Gallery hours are weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
