OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego's 14th annual "Women Aloud" performance fund-raiser, supporting scholarships for the women's studies program, will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, in Bell Auditorium, Room 213 of Hewitt Union.
It is one of several "Herstory Month" events in March focusing on women's accomplishments and roles in history.
Laura Hess-Brown of the psychology department will host and emcee the evening. Student readers will include Shakiyla Newland and Evelyn Mendez, joined by faculty readers Cynthia Clabough, Jonel Langenfeld-Rial, Elaine Wenderholm and Ching Hung Hsiao.
Barbara Streets of the college's Counseling Services Center will present the scholarship awards.
Proceeds will support scholarships for outstanding students majoring or minoring in women's studies. Suggested donations for admission are $5 for the general public and $3 for students. Food and beverages will be available at the conclusion of the performances, where organizers encourage mingling and conservation.
The planning committee for the event includes faculty members Bruce Altschuler, Mark Cole, Robert Cole, Geraldine Forbes and Mary McCune, as well as student Rebecca Batt.
