OSWEGO FESTIVAL CHORUS TO BEGIN REHEARSALS FOR SPRING PERFORMANCE
OSWEGO -- The Oswego Festival Chorus, a community chorus of 75 to 100 singers directed by SUNY Oswego's Julie Pretzat, will begin rehearsals at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, for the group's major spring performance.
The performance -- slated for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre at SUNY Oswego -- will honor SUNY Oswego's Leon Carapetyan, a retiring voice professor and former conductor of the Oswego Festival Chorus. A professional chamber orchestra will provide accompaniment at the event.
Selections will include Vivaldi's "Gloria," Mozart's "Ave Verum Benedictus," Handel's "Zadok the Priest" and "Hallelujah Chorus," and the "Sanctus" and "Benedictus" from Vaughan Williams' Mass in G.
All interested singers are invited to show up for the first rehearsal in Room 41 of Tyler Hall at SUNY Oswego or to call 312-2983. There is a $7 registration fee. Music is available to borrow or purchase.
