    OSWEGO -- Education as well as entertainment will mark the SUNY Oswego residency for Les Deux Mondes, who will perform "Living Memory (Memoire Vive)" in Waterman Theatre. A French version of the dreamlike production will be staged at 10:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, with an English version at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.

    "This is an incredibly high-tech production, so this residency by Les Deux Mondes offers a wonderful opportunity for students to see some state-of-the-art equipment and learn about cutting-edge techniques," said Mary Avrakotos, coordinator of the Artswego Performing Arts Series. "The Artswego program strives to provide these types of learning experiences as well as outstanding performances by acts you normally can't see in Central New York."

    Members of the troupe will share insights on the creative process at an "Introduction to Theatre" class at 12:40 p.m. in Room 104 of Lanigan Hall. "To have professionals from the field, especially those presenting such ground-breaking work, visit the classroom could provide inspiration for those interested in the creative field," Avrakotos said.

    The production also ties into the first-ever Laker Days festival running from Feb. 6 to 8 at SUNY Oswego. Featuring live entertainment, home intercollegiate athletic events, intramural athletic contests, a bonfire/pep rally and more, Laker Days is funded by an NCAA Choices grant to promote institutional pride through strengthening active participation of the student body in intercollegiate athletic contests and other alcohol-free campus-sponsored events.
