OSWEGO -- The Tyler Hall box office at SUNY Oswego recently launched a computerized ticketing system to process all ticket sales at Waterman Theatre. The system debuted last week, kicking off sales for the Waterman Summer Theatre's production of "The King and I," which will run from July 18 to 22.
The box office installed Theater Manager, a software program developed by Arts Management Systems in Calgary, Canada. Theater Manager processes and tracks ticket sales and season subscriptions, supports point of sale credit card processing and financial transactions, creates and manipulates client data and charts theatre volunteer and staff efforts.
"Theatre Manager's capabilities will allow the box office to efficiently process our clients' ticketing requests and manage daily transactions," says Kelly Cullinan, Tyler Hall box office manager.
"In the past, paper reservation forms and pre-printed tickets were used for events in Waterman Theatre. Theatre Manager is a platform that allows our staff to provide a higher level of customer service to theatre patrons and affords the box office the ability to build a stronger marketing plan based on hard data generated by Theatre Manager."
Several campus offices extended financial support in purchasing the box office system, notably Artswego, the Continuing Education Division, the theatre department and the Provost's Office, with support also given by President Deborah F. Stanley. A grant was also secured through the Verizon Foundation, solidifying the funding necessary for the project.
Tickets for "The King and I" are currently on sale at the Tyler Hall box office. Show times for "The King and I" are 8 p.m. July 18 to 21 and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for children under 12.
The popular pre-theatre buffet will be held Thursday, July 19, and Friday, July 20, at 6 p.m. in The Forum in Hewitt Union. The buffet will take on an Asian theme in accordance with "The King and I." Tickets for the show and buffet dinner are $28 for adults, $26 for seniors and students, and $24 for children under 12. Seating for the buffet dinner is limited, and early reservations are recommended.
