OSWEGO -- With the approach of summer comes the release of students from schools. SUNY Oswego Summer Day Camp is designed to meet the summer recreational and social needs of students entering grades 1 to 6.
This summer's session will be held from June 25 to July 6 in Lee Hall. The camp will run Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $45. Registration is limited to 40 campers.
The children will be divided into groups according to their age. All campers must have completed kindergarten.
Before-camp child care is available from 8 to 9 a.m. at an additional $5 per week.
The camp has been successfully entertaining children for over two years now under the guidance of camp director Katie Carrow.
"In the past the program has been very successful and has enrolled 15 to 25 students," Carrow said. "This is really a fantastic program for children, and we're hoping for another great turnout this year."
The program will include daily activities in games, arts and crafts, sports, swimming and other fun.
"Last year we took the children for a special event at the planetarium in Piez Hall, and they really enjoyed that. This year we will try to do that again, if scheduling permits," Carrow said.
Campers must pre-register in person at the Intramural and Recreation Office, which is open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
