LEADERSHIP OSWEGO COUNTY TO HONOR GRADUATES, COMMUNITY LEADERS JUNE 13
OSWEGO -- Current and future community leaders will be honored during Leadership Oswego County's adult class of 2003 graduation ceremony Friday, June 13, at The Forum in SUNY Oswego's Hewitt Union.
This year's ceremony recognizes the 11th adult class of the Leadership Oswego County program, which is administered by SUNY Oswego's Center for Business and Community Development. The 21 members of the class of 2003 will join more than 230 alumni of Leadership Oswego County as the community leaders of the future.
In addition to the graduation ceremonies, Leadership Oswego County will present the 2003 Community Leadership and Distinguished Alumni awards. John FitzGibbons will receive the Community Leadership Award, while the Leadership Oswego County Distinguished Alumni Award will recognize Mary Vanouse.
An independent insurance agent by trade, FitzGibbons is known to many in the community for his variety of volunteer activities. He has participated in such community organizations as Harbor Festivals, Oswego Rotary Club, Oswego YMCA, Community Development Advisory Board, Oswego Hospital, Greater Oswego Chamber of Commerce, Oswego Country Club and Oswego Yacht Club.
Vanouse, a 1993 graduate of Leadership Oswego County, is the assistant director of the City of Oswego Community Development Office. Her volunteer activities include work with such civic organizations as the Zonta Club of Oswego, Safe Haven and Services to Aid Families.
"John and Mary are both well deserving of these honors," Leadership Oswego County Director Nancy Bellow said. "Their dedication to making Oswego County a better place to live embodies the values and principles of Leadership Oswego County."
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, followed by dinner. Cost is $25 per person, and advance registration is required.
