SCHOLAR TO DISCUSS SOUTH AFRICA
OSWEGO -- International scholar Peter Vale will discuss "Community and Security in Southern Africa" in the next session of the College of Arts and Sciences Lecture Series at SUNY Oswego. The admission-free talk will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 29 in Hewitt Union's Bell Auditorium.
Vale is currently a fellow at New York University's International Center for Advanced Studies. In February, he will take the Nelson Mandela Chair of Politics at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa.
Most recently, he has been the senior professor in the School of Government at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. His new book, "Security and Politics in South Africa: The Regional Dimension," is scheduled to be published in November.
The college's global and international studies program cosponsors the lecture. The public is invited. A reception will follow.
