LIVING WRITERS SERIES
TO CONTINUE ON CAMPUS
OSWEGO -- The Oswego State English Writing Arts Living Writers Series will continue through Nov. 13, featuring writers of fiction, memoir, screenplays and poetry.
Nancy Osborne, librarian and archivist emerita from Penfield Library at Oswego State, will read from her memoirs and fiction Oct. 2. She is the author of "Crazy Quilt," a collection of poems and stories, some from her "Kickin' Texas Dirt" series.
Dave Longley, meteorologist with WIXT-TV Channel 9 and a graduate of Oswego State, will speak Oct. 10.
John J. Garrett will speak about screenwriting Oct. 30. Garrett, a 1996 graduate of Oswego State, won the Kennedy Center-American College Theatre Festival Fourth Freedom Forum Playwriting Award for his play "Fragments," which was produced on campus.
The poet Christian Langworthy will give a reading Nov. 13. A graduate of Oswego, he was the grand prize winner in 1994 of a national poetry chapbook contest sponsored by Poet Magazine, which then published in limited edition the winning chapbook, "Geography of War."
He has published in literary journals, been nominated for Pulitzer and Pushcart prizes and won an Academy of American Poets' Prize. His first novel is forthcoming next summer from Riverhead Books/Penguin Putnam.
All readings and talks will be at 3 p.m. in Bell Auditorium, Room 213 of Hewitt Union. The presentations will be open to the public free of charge.
