Howard Spindler, Pianist and Jon Shallit, Violinist

Howard Spindler, pianist, of the Eastman School of Music and Jon Shallit, violinist, of the SUNY Oswego Music Department, present a violin and piano duo recital. The concert starts with an original arrangement, Suite of Songs and Dances from Ancient Times, which contains music rarely if ever heard. A Japanese traditional song, dompe, saltarello, hopper dance, spanyoler tancz, a mensuration canon and more are combined in the suite. Also to be performed are works by Bach, Higdon, Bloch and Bartok. The concert is played in an ever-increasing cascade of intensity, ending in the brilliance of the Bartok and Bloch works.
