Men's Hockey Falls To St. Norbert 4-3 In NCAA Semifinals; Ends Season At 26-3-0
With the score knotted at 3-3, St. Norbert’s Cody Keefer scored the game-winning goal with 39.4 seconds remaining to give the third-ranked Green Knights a 4-3 win over the second-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championships on Friday at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. The Lakers tied the contest on three separate occasions, including Jon Whitelaw’s goal with 2:32 left to play in regulation. Oswego State finished the season with an overall record of 26-3-0, while St. Norbert advanced to the NCAA Championship with a record of 24-3-3 overall.

McMahon Finishes 10th In 1-Meter Diving At NCAA Championships Oswego State senior diver Eileen McMahon (Clay, N.Y.) earned 10th place with a final score of 395.15 on the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships hosted at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Thursday. She competed in the consolation finals after scoring 383.90 in the preliminary round. McMahon is the only Laker woman competing at the championships, as Oswego State is currently ranked 34th with seven points among all other women’s squads.

Eric Selleck Named First Team All-America in Men's Hockey
Oswego State sophomore forward Eric Selleck (Spencerville, Ontario) was recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as a 2010 RBK Hockey Division III All-America East First Team honoree at a banquet held Thursday evening in conjunction with this weekend’s NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championships in Lake Placid, N.Y. Selleck was one of six players named to the All-America teams competing in the NCAA Semifinal games. He also finished as runner-up for the 2010 Sid Watson Award, which is symbolic of the nation's best Division III men's hockey player.

Men's Hockey Prepared to Face St. Norbert In NCAA Semifinal On Friday
The Oswego State men’s hockey team will face St. Norbert College in the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championship semifinals on Friday, March 19 at 4 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York. Oswego State advanced to this year’s semifinals with a 9-2 win over Bowdoin at home last Saturday night, while St. Norbert advanced by defeating Gustavus Adolphus 3-1 in DePere, Wis. The second-ranked Lakers enter the weekend with an overall record of 26-2-0 compared to a record of 23-3-3 for the Green Knights. The winner of the Oswego State/St. Norbert semifinal will play the winner of the Norwich/Plattsburgh semifinal on Saturday at 5 p.m. EDT in the national championship game.

Men's Lacrosse Drops 15-5 Contest To RIT
The Oswego State men's lacrosse team trailed RIT by two goals at halftime, but the Lakers were out-scored 9-1 in the second half as they suffered a 15-5 loss on Wednesday afternoon in Rochester. Sophomore midfielder Britt Leone (Schenectady, N.Y.) led Oswego State with three goals and an assist followed by senior Dan Scarazzo (Fairport, N.Y.) added a goal and two assists, while eight different Tiger players registered goals. The Lakers, who fell to 1-3 overall, will return to action next Wednesday against St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y. RIT improved to 3-2 overall after out-shooting Oswego State 58-21.

Messina Finishes Fourth In 3-Meter Diving At NCAA Championships; Merlin Places Ninth
Oswego State sophomore diver Eric Messina (Latham, N.Y.) compiled 541.95 points on the 3-meter springboard to earn fourth place at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships hosted at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Teammate Shawn Merlin (Jr., Palmyra, N.Y.) finished in ninth place after posting 480.50 points. Messina earned All-America honors by virtue of finishing in the top eight improving on last year's ninth-place finish, while Merlin received honorable mention All-America recognition. After the first day of competition, the Lakers sit in 12th place with 24 points.

Leusch and Heffernan Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans
Oswego State wrestlers Eric Leusch (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) and Brandon Heffernan (Jr., Martville, N.Y.) were named to the 2009-10 National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Scholar All-American Team on Tuesday. Leusch, a two-time honoree and childhood education major, finished the season with an overall record of 26-12 in the 285-pound weight class. This season he placed at third at the ECWC Championships and the RIT Invitational, sixth at the Ithaca Invitational, and seventh at the New York State Championships. Leusch has also been recognized as a 2009 SUNYAC All-Academic and Commissioner’s List Recipient.

Three Divers Set To Compete At 2010 NCAA Championships
Oswego State divers, Eileen McMahon (Sr., Clay, N.Y.), Shawn Merlin (Jr., Palmyra, N.Y.), and Eric Messina (So., Latham, N.Y.), will begin competition at the four-day 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships being held in Minneapolis, Minn. on Wednesday, March 17. All three athletes will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events against 21 of the top female divers and 20 of the top male divers in Division III. Check out a video highlighting the abilities of these high-flying athletes.
