Men Finish Seventh, Women Finish Eighth At SUNYAC Cross Country Championships

Rachel SanbornThe Oswego State men's cross country squad finished in seventh place out of ten teams with 188 points at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Cortland on Saturday. The Laker women placed eighth with 224 points on a course that was slowed by muddy conditions due to rain. Geneseo captured both the men's and women's team titles with 29 and 34 points, respectively.

Junior Mike Bott (Camillus, N.Y.) was the top Oswego State male finisher in the 8K race as he crossed the finish line in 27:22, which was good for 31st place individually.  Freshman Jeff Rozler (Bemus Point, N.Y.) and junior Samson Dikeman (Altamont, N.Y.) finished 39th and 43rd, respectively, as Rozler posted a time of 27:35 and Dikeman ran a time of 27:49.

Freshman Rachel Sanborn placed 21st in the women’s 6K race with a time of 24:49.  Sanborn’s finish was the highest SUNYAC finish by a Laker female since 2004 when Leann Donnelly took fifth place with a time of 23:39.  Angeleen Tauriello (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.) and Rose Foran (Sr., Canastota, NY) crossed the finish line 11 seconds apart at 26:25 and 26:36 for 56th and 58th, respectively.

Oswego State will compete in the ECAC Championships at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. on Sat., November 7.
