Head Coach Andrew Hunsinger
Andrew Hunsinger enters his second season as the head coach for cross country and track and field at Oswego State after stepping into the position for the 2008 season. He served as assistant coach for both programs during the 2007 season.
In his first season at the helm, Hunsinger guided the women's cross country team to three top five finishes, including second place finishes at the Houghton Highlander Invitational and the Nazareth Golden Flyer Invitational and a third place finish at the Oneonta Invitational, and the men's cross country team to a third place finish at the Oneonta Invitational. The women's squad also placed sixth at the 2008 SUNYAC Championships and 19th at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional meet, while the men's squad placed ninth at the SUNYAC Championships and 29th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet.
Hunsinger's troop not only competed well as a team, but posted strong results individually. Four members of the women's team established times among the top 15 performances all-time at Oswego State during the season. The men's squad saw equal success as every returning student-athlete set personal bests in 6000 and 8000 meter races.
Hunsinger is Level I certified by USA Track & Field (USATF) and served as an intern coaching track & field at Seton Catholic High School in Plattsburgh.
Hunsinger, a 2007 graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, served captain of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. He left Plattsburgh as the school-record holder in the 400-meter and 800-meter relays, and earned All-SUNYAC and All-ECAC recognition several times. Prior to Plattsburgh, he attended SUNY New Paltz, where he was a SUNYAC champion in the 100-meter dash and held six school records before the program was discontinued. He earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in coaching of track and field.
