Senior goaltender Kyle Gunn-Taylor (West Seneca, N.Y.) tallied a win in his first start of the season, stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced.  Oswego State will square off against archrival Plattsburgh on Saturday at 7 p.m. 

Justin Fox started the scoring 4:42 into the game with an assist going to Stephen Mallaro (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.).  After the ensuing face-off, the line stuck again with a goal from Chris Laganiere.  Eric Selleck and Fox were credited with the assists.  However, Fredonia evened the score with a pair of goals from Alex Morton before the end of the period.

The Oswego State men's hockey team received goals from four different players as the Lakers defeated Buffalo State 4-1 to open SUNYAC play on Friday night in Buffalo. Defenseman Stephen Mallaro (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) and forward Eric Selleck (So., Spencerville, Ont.) led the way with a goal and an assist each, while seven other skaters recorded points during the game. Oswego State moved to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference. The Bengals dropped to 0-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the league.

The first 15 minutes of the contest were quiet offensively as neither team was able to take advantage of a power play chance.  However, the Lakers closed out the period strong with a pair of goals to skate into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.  The first goal came at the 15:55 mark when Justin Fox (Jr., Whitby, Ont.) and Stephen Mallaro assisted Eric Selleck for his second goal of the year.  The eventual game-winning goal came off of the stick of Mallaro with 1:18 remaining in the period.  Assists were credited to Brad Dormiedy (Sr., Ajax, Ont.) and Neil Musselwhite (Sr., Burlington, Ont.) on the play.

After scoring seven goals in the first game of the season, the Oswego State men's hockey offense was shut down in a 2-1 loss at Elmira on Saturday night. Both goaltenders were showcased during the contest as the Lakers' Paul Beckwith (So., Cleveland, Ohio) stopped 41 of the 43 shots he faced, only to be outdone by the Soaring Eagles' Casey Tuttle, who registered 37 saves. Both squads are now 1-1-0 on the season.

Oswego State picked up where it left on Friday night as it peppered Tuttle with 19 shots in the first period, but the Lakers would come up empty on the scoreboard as the teams skated into the first intermission knotted at 0-0.
