Emi Williams Honored As ECAC West Women's Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week Oswego State women's hockey player Emi Williams (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) has been named the ECAC West Women's Hockey Goalie of the Week for the week ending November 15, 2009. Williams made 71 saves to keep the Lakers in both games versus ninth-ranked Neumann Knights despite a 4-2 loss and a 3-2 overtime loss.
On Saturday, Williams stopped 40 of the 44 shots she faced, including 19 shots in the second period. In Sunday’s overtime loss, she registered 31 saves. Oswego State is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in ECAC West play.

Women's Hockey Falls To Neumann 3-2 In Overtime
Niki Blazenko scored the game-winning goal for ninth-ranked Neumann College with 3:47 elapsed in overtime as the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team lost 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Aston, Pa. Senior Jenna Kirkwood (Chilliwack, B.C.) tied the contest for the Lakers late in the second period to send the game into the extra period. Oswego State dropped to 2-3-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the ECAC West, while the Knights improved to 4-1-1 overall.
It was a high scoring first period as Neumann notched the first goal of the game at the 3:22 mark when Jessica Schroeder scored her fourth goal of the season. Jillian Bergeron (Brockville, Ont.) recorded her second goal of the series for the Lakers with assists going to Aprilyn Gush (Sr., Carleton Place, Ont.) and Meagan Big Snake (Siksika, Alberta) three minutes later. The Knights regained a 2-1 lead with 10:39 elapsed in the frame when Holly Williams tallied a power play goal.

Women's Ice Hockey Sticks With Ninth-Ranked Neumann In 4-2 Loss The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team stayed with the ninth-ranked Neumann Knights, but came up short in a 4-2 loss on Saturday night in Aston, Pa. The Lakers erased a three-goal deficit after the first period to pull within one goal in the second, but were unable to get the game-tying score. Oswego State fell to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in ECAC West play, while Neumann improved to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.
Neumann grabbed a 1-0 lead 39 seconds into the contest after a Jasper Thomson goal. The Knights took a two-goal lead at 14:35 in the first period when Kayla Dubowski scored on a pass from Jennie Greenlee. Neumann’s lead grew to three goals before the end of the frame as Diane Peters tallied a power play goal three minutes later.

Women's Hockey Falls To Potsdam 3-1
The Oswego State women's hockey team scored the first goal of the game, but Potsdam scored three consecutive goals in the Lakers' first loss of the season in a 3-1 decision on Sunday afternoon. Junior goaltender Emi Williams (Anchorage, Alaska) recorded 25 saves for Oswego State, as the Lakers fell to 2-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the ECAC West. Oswego State will travel to Neumann for a two-game series next weekend beginning on Saturday at 7 p.m.
After a scoreless first period, junior forward Sarah Hannon (Lackawanna, N.Y.) put Oswego State on the scoreboard just 1:40 into the second period. Hannon was assisted by Brenna Weber (Jr., Andover, Minn.) and Emily Grippin (Jr., Ithaca, N.Y.).

Women's Hockey Opens Conference Play With 2-1 Win At Potsdam Two first period goals helped the Oswego State women's hockey team open ECAC West play with a 2-1 win at Potsdam on Saturday afternoon. Emily Grippin and Jenna Kirkwood scored the Laker goals as Oswego State improved to 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference. The Bears fell to 1-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the league.
Emily Grippin (Jr., Ithaca, N.Y.) put the Lakers on the board at the 8:09 mark in the first period with an unassisted shorthanded goal. Oswego State added another goal minutes later when Jenna Kirkwood (Sr., Chilliwack, B.C.) scored her third goal of the season with assists awarded to Grippin and Sarah Hannon (Jr., Lackawanna, N.Y.) as the Lakers went into the first period intermission with the 2-0 lead.
