Bateman Earns Women's Soccer Conference Post-Season Honors SUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. Patrick Damore released the 2009 Women's Soccer All-Conference teams on Thursday, November 5 and honored Oswego State's Michelle Bateman (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.), who was named to the third team.
Bateman, a forward, led the Lakers in scoring this season with 37 points on 16 goals, including five game-winning scores, and five assists. In conference play, she tallied five goals and two assists. Bateman registered a hat trick in a 4-1 win over SUNY Cobleskill and had six multi-point games.

Women's Soccer Closes Out Season With 4-0 Loss At Oneonta
The Oswego State women's soccer team closed out its 2009 campaign with a 4-0 loss at Oneonta on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons received goals from four different players as they clinched either the top or second seed with a 7-2-0 league record and an overall record of 11-3-3. The Lakers finished the season with a mark of 7-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the SUNY Athletic Conference.
Brittney Reilly put Oneonta on the scoreboard with a one-touch goal after a corner kick with 30 seconds remaining in the first half. The goal fired up the Red Dragon offense as it came out to score three more goals in the second half in the 57th, 61st, and 62nd minutes to put the game out of reach for Oswego State.

Women's Soccer Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive With 3-1 Win At New Paltz The Oswego State women's soccer team kept its conference hopes alive in a must-win situation with a 3-1 victory over host New Paltz on Friday afternoon. Three different Lakers tallied goals as they improved to 7-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the SUNYAC. The Hawks fell to to 4-8-4 overall and 1-6-1 in the league.
New Paltz took a 1-0 lead two minutes into the game when Maggie Vasconi scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Vanessa Rogers. However, Oswego State would respond with three unanswered goals before the end of the game.

Women's Soccer Falls To Geneseo 2-1 The Oswego State women's soccer team was unable to hang onto an early 1-0 lead as the Lakers fell to host Geneseo on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped Oswego State one game out of the sixth and final conference playoff berth at 2-4-1 with two games to play and 6-8-2 overall. The Blue Knights improved to 9-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league standings for the last post-season spot.
Michelle Bateman (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) struck for the Lakers in the 11th minute when she took a shot from 18 yards that went into the lower left hand corner of the net past Geneseo goalkeeper Katie Clerkin.

Women's Soccer Picks Up 1-1 Tie Against Brockport The Oswego State women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against host Brockport on Friday despite two overtime periods. The Golden Eagles won the shootout 4-3, but the tie allowed the Lakers to move into a three-way tie with Geneseo and Cortland for the sixth and final SUNYAC playoff spot. Oswego State moved to 6-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the league, while Brockport improved to 8-1-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the conference.
Freshman sensation Michelle Bateman (Fulton, N.Y.) put the Lakers on the board in the third minute of the contest when she broke away on the right side to score her 14th goal of the season. The Golden Eagles would gain control of the game near the midway point of the first half. However, Oswego State goalkeeper Christina Fregosi (Massapequa, N.Y.) helped the Lakers maintain their lead by stopping five shots in the period.
