Loan Periods and Overdue Fines

The Following Overdue Fines apply to Undergraduate Students, Honors Students, Community Borrowers, Open Access, and Partners of Faculty and Professional Staff. Faculty and Professional Staff of SUNY Oswego do not receive overdue fines, except for recall fines; however, Faculty and Professional Staff may be charged replacement charges and processing fees for items not returned to the library.

Overdue fines are calculated from the due date and are payable after the grace period.

As a courtesy, overdue notices will be sent out seven days after the item is due, 21 days after the item is due, and 44 days after the item is due. This does not excuse the borrower's responsibility to return materials on time. It is the borrower's responsibility to inform the library of any changes to his/her address.

If materials remain overdue for 45 days, the item will be declared missing. Borrowers will be responsible for the return of the item as well as the maximum overdue fine.

If the item is not returned, it will eventually be declared lost. Borrowers will have a hold placed on their accounts at the Registrar's Office and will be required to pay the cost to replace the item as well as a processing fee. No library holds will be removed until borrowers address these responsibilities satisfactorily.
