<p><strong>Nancy Whitlock Adragna ’35</strong> of North Syracuse passed away Dec. 19. She was employed by the Syracuse City School District for many years, retiring from the Franklin School. Nancy is survived by two sons, Richard and Robert “Mac” ’64; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Walter Calhoun ’35</strong> of Sun City, Ariz., died July 6 at the age of 100. He taught industrial arts for many years. Walter is survived by two sons and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Arnold Lamont ’38</strong> of Hamburg passed away Dec. 26. He earned a master’s degree from Cornell University and a doctorate in education from SUNY Buffalo. His first teaching position was in Granville, where he introduced industrial arts education to the community. During World War II, he taught for three years in the Army Air Forces School at Republic Aviation in Farmingdale, and later at the Army Air Forces School at Curtis Wright Corp. in Buffalo. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Radio Technician Training Program. After his discharge, Arnold served as a training officer in the U.S. Veterans Administration. In 1947 he was appointed supervisor in the Bureau of Industrial Arts Education in the New York State Department of Education. In 1956 he was appointed supervisor of industrial arts education with the Buffalo Public Schools and in 1961 was made director of the program, a position he held for 26 years until his retirement in 1982. Arnold is survived by a son, a daughter, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Nellie Goodsell Kinney ’39</strong> of Weedsport died Dec. 31. Nellie taught at Weedsport Elementary School for 30 years, retiring in 1974. She is survived by a son, a daughter and several grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Dorothy Jones King ’40</strong> of Clinton died Jan. 7, 2010. She was the first kindergarten teacher in Red Creek. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, a son, two grandchildren and a great-grandson.</p>
<p><strong>John “Ring” Murray ’40</strong> of Oswego died Dec. 22. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He participated in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of Okinawa. He was a graduate of the Columbia Law School. Ring operated a private law practice in Oswego until he became Oswego County district attorney in 1958. In 1970, he was appointed surrogate court judge by then-Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, a position he held until his retirement in 1987. Surviving are a brother, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p><strong>James Lyman Roney ’43</strong> of Zionville, N.C., died Aug. 22. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Lyman taught in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District and later became a high school principal. He was also acting district principal for the Walton Central School District until his retirement. Surviving are two daughters and a grandson.</p>
<p><strong>Margaret Kambas ’45</strong> of Charlotte, N.C., died Sept. 1. She earned a master’s degree at Syracuse University and taught for 33 years. Margaret is survived by two sisters and many nieces and nephews.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Shannon Robarge ’47</strong> of Oswego passed away Nov. 28. She taught in the Fulton City School District from 1949 until she retired in 1986. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews.</p>
<p><strong>Arlene Fix Stenuf ’47</strong> of Skaneateles passed away Jan. 16. She received her master’s degree from Syracuse University. She taught for a number of years in Fairmount and in Virginia. Arlene is survived by a daughter, a son and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Edwin Komendarek ’49</strong> of Herkimer passed away Jan. 2. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He taught industrial arts and adult education at Herkimer and Little Falls schools for many years and served as the director of vocational education for Herkimer County Boards of Cooperative Educational Services for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Edwin is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son; and a granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>James Hanley ’50 </strong>of Batavia passed away Dec. 19. He is survived by two sons and two grandsons.</p>
<p><strong>Lewis Braun ’52</strong> of Oceanside died Sept. 26. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Safranko ’54; three children; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Alfred Marini ’54 </strong>of Honeoye died Nov. 12. He is survived by three daughters, two sons and seven grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Corrine Kushner Starkman ’54</strong> of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away Dec. 12. Surviving is her husband, Alvin.</p>
<p><strong>Barbara Briggs Coates ’55</strong> of Skaneateles died Aug. 18. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter ’54. Barbara is survived by three daughters, Carole Tuchrello ’81, Susan Scott ’85 and Cheryl Armstrong ’88; a son, Christopher; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Blanche Barasch Plonsky ’55</strong> of Lynbrook passed away June 22. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, James and David ’85; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Pasquale DeLilli ’57</strong> of Gloversville died Jan. 8. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Pat was an elementary teacher in Johnstown for his entire career. With his late wife, he owned and operated the former Tots to Toddlers shop in downtown Gloversville. Surviving are three sons, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Jane Lawton Holliday ’58</strong> of Mexico passed away Dec. 21. She had been a teacher in Spring Valley, Utica, Mexico and Watertown. Jane is survived by her husband, Arnold; a son; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Donna Wright Flack ’59</strong> of Fair Haven died Nov. 9. She taught throughout the Northeast for more than 25 years, retiring from Harris Hill Elementary School in Penfield in 1992. Donna was predeceased by her husband, William ’57. She is survived by two sons and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Ruth Prugh ’60</strong> of Crossville, Tenn., passed away Nov. 8. She is survived by her husband, Thomas.</p>
<p><strong>Judy Fry Maihofer ’61</strong> of Baldwinsville died Dec. 24. She also earned a degree at Columbia Teacher’s College. Judy taught in Peekskill and Ossining and for the Southern Westchester BOCES. Surviving are her husband, Walter; a son; a daughter; and two grandsons.</p>
<p><strong>Philip Messer ’61</strong> of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Nov. 13. Prior to his retirement, Phil was a school psychologist in the Pittsfield School District. He is survived by a daughter, a son and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>James Schmidt ’63</strong> of Auburn died Nov. 10. He earned a master’s degree at SUNY Cortland. He began teaching at Central Tech in Syracuse. He was the former executive director of the Cayuga County Action Program. Jim worked in the Human Affairs Program at Cornell University and became the first director of the National Center for Appropriate Technology in Butte, Mont. He later spent more than 25 years as the director of Farm Workers Legal Services. Jim is survived by his wife, Denise; two sons, Robert ’88 and John; a stepdaughter; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Jeanne Tennant Mazzoli ’64</strong> of Oswego passed away Dec. 11. She was a teacher at New Haven Elementary School for 37 years. Surviving are her husband, George; three children; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Donald Moore ’64</strong> of Palm Bay, Fla., passed away July 15, 2010. He attended Pensacola Flight School and served as an officer in the Navy and the Air Force. Donald taught for more than 32 years at schools in Chadwicks and Sauquoit. After retiring and moving to Florida, he taught in Palm Bay. Donald is survived by his wife, Susan; three daughters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Ruth Stephenson Van Ry ’65</strong> of Camden passed away Dec. 15. Ruth began her education at Oswego with the class of 1941 and after many years, returned to complete her degree in 1965. She taught in the Camden Central School District for 24 years, retiring in 1982. Surviving are three daughters, two sons, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Ann House ’66 </strong>of Hamburg died July 8. She is survived by a daughter and a granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Alice Toner Kempton ’66</strong> of Deer Park passed away July 30, 2011. She was a kindergarten teacher for 10 years before raising her family. Alice is survived by her husband, Raymond; four daughters; and one granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Battram ’67</strong> of Rochester passed away Dec. 15. She taught chemistry at Red Creek Central School for 32 years. Mary was honored with the University of Rochester’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1988 and again in 1997, as well as four National Science Foundation Grants.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Hughes ’67</strong> of Ithaca died Oct. 2. He earned master’s degrees from Cornell University and SUNY Binghamton. Rich was a systems analyst at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration. Surviving are his wife, Diane; and a son.</p>
<p><strong>Virginia Woods Mammi ’69</strong> of Floyd, Va., passed away Feb. 14, 2012. She taught English at Pulaski County High School for 25 years. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas; a son; a daughter; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Carol Adams Morris ’70</strong> of Greece died Sept. 28. Prior to her retirement, Carol was a reading teacher in the Greece School District. She is survived by her husband, John “Zeke”; three daughters; and her mother.</p>
<p><strong>Barbara Duff Rockhill ’70</strong> of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Watertown died April 21, 2012. She earned an associate degree at Jefferson Community College in 1969 and a master’s degree at SUNY Binghamton in 1976. Barbara worked for the New York State Department of Health from 1973 until her retirement in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Lumen.</p>
<p><strong>Kevin Kehoe ’73 </strong>of Oswego died Dec. 7. Surviving are his wife, Luann Dixon ’72; two daughters; a son; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by seven siblings, including Dennis ’69.</p>
<p><strong>Anthony “Kenny” Umina ’73</strong> of Delmar died Oct. 27, 2011. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He earned an associate’s degree at Auburn Community College. Before his retirement in 1999, Ken had a long career in law enforcement and criminal justice. He began as a police officer in Port Chester, then served in maximum-security correctional facilities with the New York State Department of Correctional Services, becoming the department’s youngest captain. Working in conjunction with the State Police, he began the DOCS K-9 unit. He was later appointed to serve as special deputy commissioner for the New York City Department of Correction. He later served two six-year terms as a parole commissioner. Ken was also an adjunct instructor of criminal justice at Auburn Community College and lectured at the State Police and Correctional Services Training Academies. Ken is survived by his wife, Carol; a son, Anthony; three daughters, Deborah, Carolyn Rafferty and Anne Horak ’97; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>William Saul ’74</strong> of Asheville, N.C., died Nov. 19. Bill worked at Glazers Wholesale Distributors for 20 years, most recently as vice president of strategic account education and development. Surviving are his wife, Gwynne; two sons; and two stepsons.</p>
<p><strong>Gale Falzack Miller ’77</strong> of Chestnut Ridge passed away May 23, 2010. She worked at Green Meadow Waldorf School for many years. Surviving are her husband, Michael ’76, and three children.</p>
<p><strong>Mark Wagner ’77</strong> of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away Oct. 2.</p>
<p><strong>Denise Denis ’79</strong> of San Francisco, Calif., passed away Feb. 4, 2011.</p>
<p><strong>Douglas Crane ’80</strong> of Langhorne, Pa., passed away Nov. 28. Doug began his career with Unisys in Cleveland, Ohio. After moving to Langhorne, he had a career in technical marketing with Lucent Technologies and later operated his own franchise of Vanguard Cleaning Systems. He is survived by his wife, Rose Cardamone ’81; a daughter; his parents; two sisters and two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Barbara Goodwin Holthouse M ’80</strong> of Oswego passed away Dec. 12. She earned her bachelor’s degree at SUNY Geneseo in 1973. Barbara was a speech therapist for Jefferson County BOCES, then a reading teacher in the Oswego City School District until 1980. She is survived by her husband, Gary; a son; a daughter and a granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Dawn Krupa ’88</strong> of Fellsmere, Fla., passed away May 14. She is survived by three daughters.</p>
<p><strong>Donald Ward ’88</strong> of Los Angeles passed away Aug. 21, 2010. “Chuck” earned a master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University. He was a counselor and professor at Pasadena City College for 22 years. He is survived by his partner, Robert Cook; his parents; and five sisters.</p>
<p><strong>Mark Waelder CAS ’97</strong> of Syracuse passed away Sept. 26. He earned his bachelor’s degree at SUNY Cortland and his master’s degree at University College Dublin. Mark retired in 2006 as director of evaluation, assessment and planning after 32 years with the Syracuse City School District. He is survived by his wife, Karen; a son; a daughter; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Kevin Lipari ’98</strong> of Baldwin died Dec. 14 while serving with the U.S. Army in the Logar province of Afghanistan. He was a communications specialist for the Army. Kevin is survived by his wife, Jessica; his mother; and two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Erich Geariety ’00</strong> of Solvay passed away Nov. 1. He earned a master’s degree at LeMoyne College and was a graduate of Syracuse University School of Law. Erich is survived by a son; his mother and stepfather; and his father and stepmother.</p>
<p><strong>Justin Kehoe ’04</strong> of Binghamton died Nov. 24 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a self-employed contractor. Surviving are his wife, Rickquel; a daughter; a son; his father and stepmother; and his mother.</p>
<p><strong>Justin Morris ’06</strong> of Wilton passed away suddenly in an accident July 7. Justin graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2002 and earned degrees in economics and history at Oswego. He worked at First Niagara Bank in Amsterdam and was studying to become a certified financial planner at the time of his death. Justin is survived by his parents, Claudina Owen and Richard H. Morris; a brother, Thomas R. Morris; Chiarra Morris; and grandmother Claudia Ashelman. He was predeceased by his brother Joshua Morris.</p>
<p>Raymond Bridgers, professor emeritus of education, passed away Feb. 21. Ray received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of William and Mary, and a doctorate in education from Duke University. He began his career as a teacher and principal in Virginia before coming to Oswego to teach at the Campus School. Ray continued teaching at Oswego in what is now the School of Education until his retirement after 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn ’78; children, Cynthia, Michael, Bradley M ’05, Katherine, Holly, and Lori ’87; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>Charles Kollenkark, former assistant director of admissions, passed away Dec. 18. He began his career at Oswego in 1968 and retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis ’68.</p>
<p><a id="x.61870">Hugh McKenna, former director of the Learning Resources </a><a id="x.44047">Center, passed away Oct. 8. Hugh served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport, a master’s degree from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from Laurence University. He retired from Oswego in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Diana; two daughters, Antigone and Whitney ’90; and two grandsons.</a></p>
<p>Thomas Powell, emeritus professor of history, died Aug. 23. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Tom earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Potsdam, his master’s degree and Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Prior to coming to Oswego, Tom was an instructor at the University of Akron and Syracuse University. He was Oswego’s first dean of Arts and Sciences and started Oswego’s Equal Opportunity Program. Tom stepped down as dean in 1971 to teach in the history department. He received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1976 and retired in 1996. He is survived by two daughters and two granddaughters.</p>

<p><strong>Ella Lindsley Arnold ’33 </strong>of Fulton passed away Aug. 11 at the age of 99. She taught in a one-room country school near Bowens Corners and in Schroeppel. She was the first kindergarten teacher at the Cleveland Elementary School. Ella is survived by a son, a daughter, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Anna White Howell ’34 </strong>of Port Byron passed away May 29, 2011. She taught in the Port Byron School District for more than 40 years, retiring in 1975. Anna is survived by a daughter.</p>
<p><strong>Merva Martz Walasek ’37</strong> of Camden died July 4. She taught for several years before raising a family. After her children were all in school, she tutored homebound students. Merva is survived by two daughters and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><a id="Anchor-229"><strong>Helen Williams Cornell ’40</strong> of Jamesville died June 17. She was a teacher for 26 years. She taught in California and Monroe County, and retired from the Fayetteville-Manlius School District. Helen is survived by a daughter, a son</a><a id="Anchor-225"> and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, <strong>Verna Faulkner ’36.</strong></a></p>
<p><strong>Dorothy Kiola Williams Gantt ’41</strong> of Arlington, Va., died March 11. During World War II, she worked as a secretary in the War Department, office of the quartermaster general, in Washington, D.C. In the summer of 1944, Dottie returned to Oswego and worked at the Emergency Refugee Shelter at Fort Ontario. Dottie retired from the U.S. Court of Military Appeals in 1972. She helped to establish the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics in 1982. She and her husband, Charlie, participated for 18 years, winning gold medals in dance, tennis and walking. Surviving are a son, two daughters, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Howard Mumford ’46</strong> of Fayetteville, Ga., died April 29. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Howard was a teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal in the Atlanta Public Schools for 42 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; two daughters and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Norman Gurley ’48</strong> of Niagara Falls passed away April 18. He is survived by three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>William Jewett ’48</strong> of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away Dec. 19, 2011. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, on Jan. 13, 2011.</p>
<p><strong>Robert Sweet ’48</strong> of Phoenix, Ariz., died July 9. In 1965, Bob founded Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix with 11 students and two classrooms. Today the company has 11 campuses across the country and more than 16,000 students. Bob retired from UTI in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; 10 children; and 18 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Betty Henderson Kenyon ’49</strong> of Freeville passed away June 25. She earned a master’s degree at SUNY Cortland. She was an elementary school teacher and later a mathematics coordinator during her 41-year career, with the majority of it spent in the Groton Central School District. Betty retired in 1991. She is survived by two brothers, Bernie and Allen.</p>
<p><strong>Elizabeth Kettel Vomacka ’49</strong> of Largo, Fla., passed away April 12. Prior to raising her family, she taught third grade in Valley Stream. She returned to the workforce as a teaching assistant at Garden City Preschool, and went on to become a lead teacher in Nassau County’s first day care facility. Elizabeth then worked as a recertification classifier until she retired. Her husband, <strong>John ’49,</strong> predeceased her Feb. 8. Surviving are two sons, a daughter and a grandson.</p>
<p><strong>John Vomacka ’49</strong> of Largo, Fla., passed away Feb. 8. He served in the U.S. Army. John was an educator in the New York City Public School System for more than 25 years. John was survived by his wife, <strong>Elizabeth Kettel ’49,</strong> who passed away on April 12. Surviving are two sons, a daughter and a grandson.</p>
<p><strong>Henri Floch ’50</strong> of Phoenix, N.Y., passed away July 3. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Henri taught in the Phoenix Central School District for more than 38 years. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Doris Burkle ’52;</strong> three daughters; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Leland Salsbury ’50</strong> of Brewerton died Aug. 19. He served with the Army Air Force during World War II. Leland earned his master’s degree at New York University. He taught at Spring Valley High School and worked 38 years as an electrical engineer at General Electric. Surviving are his wife, Johanna; a son; three stepchildren; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Kenneth Jahelka ’52</strong> of Melbourne Beach, Fla., died Feb. 13. He earned his master’s degree at Hofstra University. Kenneth worked in the Levittown Public School District for 30 years, beginning in 1957 as an industrial arts teacher. He retired in 1987 as the director of industrial arts and vocational education. Surviving are his wife, <strong>Mary Thomson ’52;</strong> three children, Judith Kur ’74, Laura Fleming, and Kenneth; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Arthur Rogers ’52</strong> of Denver, Colo., passed away Sept. 3. He received his master’s degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1962. Arthur started his teaching career in Canastota from 1952 to 1954. He taught in Newark from 1954-1956. He taught in the Niagara Falls City School District from 1956 until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, <strong>Gertrude Rochelle ’54;</strong> two daughters; two sons; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Rosalyn Reeves Snow ’52</strong> of Memphis, N.Y., died Aug. 17, 2010. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the West Genesee and Baldwinsville School Districts. She was co-owner of Snow’s Egg Farm in Warners. Rosalyn is survived by her husband, Gerald; a son; a daughter; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Margaret LeRoy Ellis ’53</strong> of Oswego died Aug. 9. She taught in Baldwinsville for three years and was a substitute teacher in the Oswego City School District for more than 30 years. Surviving are two daughters; two sons; a sister, <strong>Marilyn Kindle ’52;</strong> a brother; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Henry Straub ’53</strong> of Penn Yan died March 23, 2009. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Henry taught industrial arts at Penfield High School for 35 years. In retirement, he worked as a general contractor. Surviving are his wife, Clarinda; a son; a daughter; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Lyle Allen Boyce ’54</strong> of Valatie died Feb. 15. He attended Syracuse University and The University at Buffalo, earning master’s degrees in school administration and special education and a doctorate in audiology. Al was instrumental in developing the program for the deaf in the Guilderland School District where he taught science and was department chair, and later became assistant principal of the Junior High School. From 1967 to 1999, Al served as superintendent of schools of the Menands School District. He is survived by his wife, Regina; three sons; a daughter; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Albert Skinner ’54</strong> of Colorado Springs, Colo., died July 2. During the Korean War, Al served in the U.S. Naval Reserves and later spent two years on active Navy duty in the Mediterranean. He earned graduate degrees from Iliff School of Theology and Long Island University. Prior to seminary, Al was a social studies teacher and worked in the National Parks ministry. He was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1966 and spent the majority of his ministry as a chaplain in the U.S. Army. Al served in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969. He is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Doris Houser Tilton ’54</strong> of North Syracuse died Dec. 18, 2011. Dorie taught in the North Syracuse School District for several years. She later embarked on a new career, working with deaf children, becoming an expert in sign language. Dorie was predeceased by her husband, Robert. Surviving are a son, a daughter and two grandsons.</p>
<p><strong>Donald Thomasson ’57</strong> of Elma died June 22. He is survived by his wife, Grace; three children; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Marguerite Gartrell ’58</strong> of Oakdale died Feb. 16, 2011. She received a master’s degree from Hofstra University. Marguerite taught fourth grade at Timber Point Elementary School for more than 45 years.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Lynn McDonald Sincebaugh ’58</strong> of Orlando, Fla., passed away Jan. 4, 2012. She taught in Auburn and Florida for many years. She served on the Auburn Board of Education for several years. Surviving are her husband, Gerald; a son; a daughter; and three granddaughters.</p>
<p><strong>Charles Sixour ’58</strong> of Lenoir City, Tenn., died May 18. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; four daughters; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Joan Tompkins Mattison ’60</strong> of Newnan, Ga., passed away Aug. 20. She earned her master’s degree at SUNY Potsdam. She taught in the Ogdensburg City School District for 32 years. Surviving are her husband, <strong>George ’58,</strong> a daughter; a son; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>David Weisenburger ’60</strong> of Rome passed away Feb. 27. David taught industrial arts at Rome Free Academy. He retired in 1992, but remained active with Rome Free Academy as a substitute teacher. David is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter and three sons.</p>
<p><strong>Eleanor House Cali ’61</strong> of Oswego passed away June 6. She taught biology at Gates Chili High School until her move to Oswego. Ellie worked as a secretary at Oswego Catholic High School before taking a job at the Oswego Hospital Laboratory, a position she held for 25 years, rising to the position of county laboratory supervisor. In 1972, she and her husband, <strong>Michael ’63,</strong> opened Cali’s Carriage House Florist. Ellie is survived by her husband, two sons, a daughter and 12 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Bonnie Pritchard ’62</strong> of Cazenovia died June 7. She taught kindergarten for 34 years in the Jamesville-Dewitt School District, retiring in 1996. Bonnie is survived by two sisters and a brother.</p>
<p><strong>Vincent Savona ’63, M ’70</strong> of Oswego passed away May 31. Vincent taught chemistry in Central Square and then at Oswego High School for 29 years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Evangelist ’64, and two sons, Michael ’91 and Andrew ’94.</p>
<p><strong>Paul Scheno ’63</strong> of Pawleys Island, S.C., passed away Aug. 11. Paul was a teacher and reading specialist for more than 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Susan Roach ’63; two sons; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Marjorie Tyler ’63</strong> of Hannibal died Aug. 1. She taught physical education and English at Hannibal High School. She retired as a typesetter and editor at the Brown Newspapers in Baldwinsville and had previously worked at The Palladium-Times, The Valley News and Red Creek Herald newspapers. Marjorie is survived by two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Donald Capron ’64</strong> of Gilbert, Ariz., passed away July 14. He earned a master’s degree at the University of Vermont and an MBA from San Francisco State University. Don worked for Dansk International Designs as vice president of Western Regional Operations, and as vice president of Securities Analysis at Smith-Barney Securities. After retiring, he spent three years as an associate professor of business administration at the University of Massachusetts.</p>
<p><strong>Edward Finnerty ’65</strong> of Camden passed away Aug. 25. He also earned a master’s degree at Oswego. Ed taught in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill School District for 13 years. He then worked for Harden Furniture for 25 years, retiring in 2005. He is survived by a sister, Joyce Seubert, and his aunt, <strong>Doris Brown Allen ’42.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Patricia Johnson Diehl ’66</strong> of Rochester died Aug. 15, 2009. She began her career as an elementary teacher at Park Road Elementary in Pittsford and retired as a guidance counselor at Pittsford-Mendon High School. Patricia is survived by her husband, William; a daughter; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Russell Hasseler ’67</strong> of Newark died Oct. 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Christine Doyle ’70;</strong> two sons; and two granddaughters.</p>
<p><strong>Gail Goodman Wright ’71</strong> of Hicksville died Aug. 29. She is survived by three children.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Bucher ’74</strong> of Canton passed away June 6. She earned master’s degrees from SUNY Albany and St. Lawrence University. Mary worked as a librarian at SUNY Canton for 35 years. She is survived by five brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Bennie Lee Walker ’74</strong> of Brookline, Mass., died July 17, 2011. He was a retired assistant headmaster at Snowden International High School. Surviving are three daughters, a son and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Irene Goldman Gilman ’75</strong> of Oswego passed away Aug. 17. She worked at the Oswego Hospital Mental Health Unit, was director of the New York state Migrant Head Start Program and most recently was a substitute teacher in the Oswego City School District. <p><strong>David Bennett ’77</strong> of Kalispell, Mont., passed away June 20. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a forest firefighter, and was a member of the Inter-regional Hotshot crew. David is survived by his wife, Becky; two children; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Ruth Nolan Mulford ’77</strong> of Ronkonkoma died Sept. 12. She was employed at Oswego County BOCES from 1970 to 2000, and had been the regional vice president for the Long Island/Metro region of the Association of Builders and Contractors since 2000.</p>
<p><strong>Regina Whiteside ’79</strong> of Syracuse died May 10. She earned a master’s degree in deaf education and sign language interpreting at Gallaudet University. Regina was an American Sign Language interpreter, taught sign language at Onondaga Community College for more than 20 years and was an elementary school teacher of the deaf.</p>
<p><strong>Jonathan Russell ’80</strong> of Albany died Sept. 7, 2011. He worked as an analyst/software engineer for several brokerage firms. Jon is survived by two children.</p>
<p><strong>Joseph Klapkowski ’83</strong> of Highland Falls died March 3. He was a financial analyst with Valley National Bank in New York City. Joseph is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth; two sons; and two daughters.</p>
<p><strong>Richard O’Brien ’83</strong> of West Babylon passed away Sept. 29, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, and a daughter.</p>
<p><strong>Joan Mathieu ’85</strong> of Redding, Calif., passed away June 28. She is survived by her husband, Don Mathieu, Emeritus Professor of History.</p>
<p><strong>Mario Caruso ’88</strong> of Brewerton died Dec. 19, 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mario was a retired hair stylist and the owner of Caruso’s Imperial Coiffures at Imperial Gardens. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Kathleen Deugaw ’97</strong> of Colton passed away June 9, 2011.</p>
<p><strong>Linda Day ’00, M ’10</strong> of Sandy Creek passed away Sept. 12. She earned a master’s degree at Syracuse University. Linda previously taught at Immokalee High School in Immokalee, Fla. She is survived by two sons.</p>
<p><strong>Chad Kelly ’05</strong> of Fulton died July 23 at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar while doing contract work for the Department of Defense. Chad served with the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2010 and served in Iraq from August 2007 to October 2008. He was currently employed by MacAuley-Brown. Surviving are his parents, Herbert “Butch” and Donna, and his girlfriend, Lauren.</p>
<p><strong>Edward McNally M ’05</strong> of Syracuse passed away Oct. 20. He earned a bachelor’s degree at LeMoyne in 1988 and a master’s degree at St. Mary’s Seminary in 1995. Ed was formerly the chaplain at the Hall Newman Center.</p>
<p><strong>Jonathan Rothwell ’09</strong> of Fayetteville passed away May 13. He is survived by his parents, Dickson and Carol; a brother, Matthew; and a sister, Joy.</p>
<p><strong>Brent Pangburn ’12</strong> of Lisle passed away July 19. He is survived by his parents, Doug and Jody; a daughter; and a sister.</p>
<p>J. Michael Adams, professor of technology at Oswego from 1972 to1984 passed away June 21. He was the president of Fairleigh Dickinson University for more than a decade before his retirement in May. He was the president of the International Association of University Presidents. While at Oswego, Michael earned the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University. He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters; a son; and four grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Benjamin Brooks ’41</strong> of Peekskill died July 19, 2007. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Benjamin earned a master’s degree from Cornell University in 1947. He taught industrial arts technology at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Preston ’42</strong> of Delmar passed away Dec. 15, 2009. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Tom taught for many years in the Bethlehem Central School District. He is survived by four children, including <strong>James ’73,</strong> and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Roy Schoenberg ’47</strong> of Bay Shore died Feb. 23, 2010. He had been a school district administrator and college professor. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; two children; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Joseph Braco ’48,</strong> Associate Professor Emeritus of Technology, of Oswego died Jan. 7. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Joe taught industrial arts technology in the Mohawk Valley area before joining the faculty at Oswego. He retired in 1983. He is survived by four children, <strong>Richard ’74,</strong> Robert, Ann and Thomas.</p>
<p><strong>Rhoda Schulz Hildebrant ’48</strong> of Toledo, Ohio, passed away March 14, 2011. Rhoda began her career in schools in Central New York. She moved to Toledo in 1949 and spent many years as a teacher and principal in Point Place. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Toledo. She was predeceased by her husband, <strong>Robert ’36,</strong> who died in 2002.</p>
<p><strong>Alexander Bruni ’49</strong> of San Diego, Calif., passed away May 15, 2010. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Ellen ’50.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Charles Easterbrook ’49</strong> of Oxford, Miss., passed away July 22. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles taught industrial arts for 36 years in Elmira Heights. Surviving are his wife, Lucile; two sons; and four granddaughters.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Stirrat ’50</strong> of Bradenton, Fla., died May 18, 2008. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He taught industrial arts technology for more than 25 years in the Oyster Bay School District. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; four children; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Rita Cochran Fichtner ’51</strong> of Rochester passed away July 16. Surviving are her husband, John; two daughters; three sons; and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Lloyd Robinson ’51</strong> of Front Royal, Va., died Feb. 13, 2011. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Lloyd taught industrial arts technology for 30 years at Warren County High School, retiring in 1982. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Sonia Prokopchuk ’51;</strong> three children; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Frank Giunti ’52</strong> of Williamsburg, Va., died Feb. 2, 2011. He earned a master’s degree at Rutgers University. Frank was employed by the Department of Defense for 38 years. For 24 years, he worked with the U.S. Army’s first computer-based instruction project at Fort Monmouth, N.J. He transferred to Fort Eustis, Va., to work with the Army as chief of the communications education and training systems division, retiring in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; four sons; a step-daughter; and 11 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Frederick Reaver ’53</strong> of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died July 20, 2011. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent his entire career in education in the Patchogue Medford School District, first as an industrial arts teacher, then as assistant principal and principal, and finally as assistant superintendent for personnel. He retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and three children.</p>
<p><strong>Charles Abadie ’54</strong> of Flushing died Feb. 1, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Ethel Anderson Bower ’54</strong> of Tupper Lake died Aug. 15. She taught in the Spring Valley School District and later was a substitute teacher in the Ramapo Central School District for 24 years until her retirement in 1993. She is survived by her husband, <strong>Richard ’54;</strong> sons <strong>Richard ’80, Stephen ’82 </strong>and<strong> David ’83;</strong> daughter, Nancy; and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Kindl ’54</strong> of Clifton Park died Oct. 18. He served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Richard received his master’s degree from St. Lawrence University. He taught industrial arts technology in Gouverneur and later in Ballston Spa, retiring in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; six children; and six grandchildren, including <strong>Jenna Chamberlain ’08.</strong> Richard is also survived by his first wife, <strong>Marilyn LeRoy ’52.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Adeline Canale Sutton ’54</strong> of Watertown passed away Jan. 2. She earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University. Adeline taught in the General Brown, Indian River and Watertown School Districts, and retired from the Copenhagen Central School Districts in 1991. She is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>H. Keith Banner ’56</strong> of Weslaco, Texas, passed away July 14. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Keith taught in Central New York and the state of Washington for 30 years. He retired from the Oneida City School District. Surviving are his wife, Marian, and seven siblings, including Shelly <strong>Carapetyan ’71.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Richard Miller ’56</strong> of Canton passed away Jan. 6. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Alfred University and a master’s degree at St. Lawrence University. Richard taught at SUNY Canton beginning in 1946 and later served as chair of the electrical technology department. He retired in 1983. Surviving are three daughters and four grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Walter Hill ’59</strong> of Carlisle died March 10, 2011. He taught industrial arts technology for 28 years at Edwards-Knox High School. Walter is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children and six grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Daniel Davis ’63</strong> of Boston, Mass., passed away Oct. 19 while on a teaching mission in Udaipur, India. He earned a master’s degree at Brooklyn College and a doctorate at Ohio State University. He was the social studies department chair and principal at Stoughton High School for 30 years. He taught at Boston University for the past eight years. Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children; and four grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Rita Cochran Fichtner ’51</strong> of Rochester passed away July 16. Surviving are her husband, John; two daughters; three sons; and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Lloyd Robinson ’51</strong> of Front Royal, Va., died Feb. 13, 2011. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Lloyd taught industrial arts technology for 30 years at Warren County High School, retiring in 1982. He is survived by his wife,<strong> Sonia Prokopchuk ’51;</strong> three children; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Frank Giunti ’52</strong> of Williamsburg, Va., died Feb. 2, 2011. He earned a master’s degree at Rutgers University. Frank was employed by the Department of Defense for 38 years. For 24 years, he worked with the U.S. Army’s first computer-based instruction project at Fort Monmouth, N.J. He transferred to Fort Eustis, Va., to work with the Army as chief of the communications education and training systems division, retiring in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; four sons; a step-daughter; and 11 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Frederick Reaver ’53</strong> of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died July 20, 2011. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent his entire career in education in the Patchogue Medford School District, first as an industrial arts teacher, then as assistant principal and principal, and finally as assistant superintendent for personnel. He retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and three children.</p>
<p><strong>Charles Abadie ’54</strong> of Flushing died Feb. 1, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Ethel Anderson Bower ’54</strong> of Tupper Lake died Aug. 15. She taught in the Spring Valley School District and later was a substitute teacher in the Ramapo Central School District for 24 years until her retirement in 1993. She is survived by her husband, <strong>Richard ’54; sons Richard ’80, Stephen ’82</strong> and <strong>David ’83;</strong> daughter, Nancy; and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Kindl ’54</strong> of Clifton Park died Oct. 18. He served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Richard received his master’s degree from St. Lawrence University. He taught industrial arts technology in Gouverneur and later in Ballston Spa, retiring in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; six children; and six grandchildren, including <strong>Jenna Chamberlain ’08.</strong> Richard is also survived by his first wife, <strong>Marilyn LeRoy ’52.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Adeline Canale Sutton ’54</strong> of Watertown passed away Jan. 2. She earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University. Adeline taught in the General Brown, Indian River and Watertown School Districts, and retired from the Copenhagen Central School Districts in 1991. She is survived by four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>H. Keith Banner ’56</strong> of Weslaco, Texas, passed away July 14. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Keith taught in Central New York and the state of Washington for 30 years. He retired from the Oneida City School District. Surviving are his wife, Marian, and seven siblings, including <strong>Shelly Carapetyan ’71.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Richard Miller ’56</strong> of Canton passed away Jan. 6. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Alfred University and a master’s degree at St. Lawrence University. Richard taught at SUNY Canton beginning in 1946 and later served as chair of the electrical technology department. He retired in 1983. Surviving are three daughters and four grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Nicholas Gallo ’59</strong> of Port Chester passed away April 1, 2010. Prior to retirement, he taught technology in the Port Chester High School. Nicholas is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.</p>
<p><strong>Walter Hill ’59</strong> of Carlisle died March 10, 2011. He taught industrial arts technology for 28 years at Edwards-Knox High School. Walter is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Kathleen Skeele Bedell ’62</strong> of Canastota died June 29. She taught for 30 years in the DeRuyter Central School District, retiring in 2007. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Perry ’62</strong> of Victor died Nov. 25. He taught industrial arts technology in the Marcellus Central School District for more than 30 years. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, <strong>Darlene Terry ’65;</strong> two daughters; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Davis ’63</strong> of Boston, Mass., passed away Oct. 19 while on a teaching mission in Udaipur, India. He earned a master’s degree at Brooklyn College and a doctorate at Ohio State University. He was the social studies department chair and principal at Stoughton High School for 30 years. He taught at Boston University for the past eight years. Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Dean Swift ’64</strong> of Rochester died Aug. 10. He was a math teacher for 34 years and directed 25 musicals at Gates-Chili High School. Surviving are his wife, Kathy; a daughter; and two grandsons.</p>
<p><strong>John Davis ’65</strong> of Wilson passed away May 25. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Linda Scharf ’67.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Donna Capossela Johnson ’65</strong> of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away Oct. 21. She earned her master’s degree at Ohio University. She began her teaching career at the Coshocton County Joint Vocational School District in 1980 and went on to become the adult education supervisor. Donna was named superintendent in 1999 and continued in that capacity until her retirement in 2007. She is survived by three children and eight grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>John Paxton ’65</strong> of New York City died Nov. 7. Prior to his retirement, he taught in Mount Vernon and was the director of the high school choruses for 10 years. She taught English, drama, journalism and radio at both the high school and college levels. Kathy is survived by her husband, David; two daughters; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Jan West ’65</strong> of Rainbow Lake died Oct. 13. She worked as a chemist at Bristol Labs, then at SUNY ESF in Syracuse.</p>

<p><strong>Mary Ellen Rector ’66</strong> of Mexico passed away March 24, 2011. She taught at Leland and Gray Seminary in Vermont, Mexico Academy and Central School and South Jefferson Central School, retiring in 1981. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Laurence; six children, including <strong>Noreen Patterson ’75</strong> and <strong>James ’74;</strong> nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Michael Ovios ’67</strong> of Vineyard Haven, Mass., passed away March 31, 2011. He received his master’s degree from Cambridge College. Michael taught at the Tisbury Elementary School for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Janice Wood ’65;</strong> a son; and three grandsons.</p>

<p><strong>Osborne Gaines ’68</strong> of Hoosick Falls passed away Dec. 11, 2010. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He taught industrial arts for many years at Mt. Anthony Junior High School and later worked at the Bennington Pottery. Osborne is survived by his wife, Harriet; a son; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>John Scofield ’68</strong> of Fayetteville passed away Oct. 5, 2010. He served with the U.S. Army Reserve from 1967 until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1996. John is survived by his wife, Donna; a daughter; and a son.</p>

<p><strong>Nancy Seale Osborne ’70,</strong> Librarian Emeritus, of North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Oct. 21. She earned a master’s degree at Syracuse University. Nancy joined the Oswego faculty in Penfield Library in 1980 and served in various roles as the art department liaison, head of special collections and coordinator of library instruction. She was also an assistant professor in the women’s studies department. Her work earned her recognition with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship. Nancy retired in 1998. She is survived by her partner of more than 40 years, Barbara Gerber, Distinguished Service Professor Emerita; daughter, Jean Ellen Osborne; stepdaughter, <strong>Jaime Gerber Baitsell ’91;</strong> five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>David DeSantis ’72</strong> of Binghamton died July 24. He was director of learning and development at BAE Systems. Previously he was the mathematics department chair in the Vestal Central School District. Dave is survived by his wife, Fran; a son; a daughter; a granddaughter; and three stepsons.</p>

<p><strong>Mildred Matarazzo Swarts ’75</strong> of Rome passed away Sept. 25. She served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. She graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing School in 1951, earned a master’s degree and doctorate at Rutgers University. She spent many years in education, serving as curriculum director for the Rome City School District, teacher at SUNY Oswego, assistant professor at SUNY IT, and health occupations and nursing instructor at Madison Oneida BOCES. Mildred is survived by her husband, William; seven children; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.</p>

<p><strong>John White ’77</strong> of Hannibal died Nov. 13. He served with the U.S. Air Force. John was a senior systems analyst at Alcan/Novelis for more than 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Karen; two sons; two stepdaughters; and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Maurine Hearn Paishon ’79</strong> of Malta died Aug. 7. For the past 10 years, she had been the director of the creative arts at Adirondack Camp on Lake George.</p>
<p><strong>Michele Baum Venizelos ’79</strong> of Easton, Conn., died July 7, 2008. Surviving are her husband, George and a son.</p>
<p><strong>Juliet Firlik Hurley ’80</strong> of The Villages, Fla., passed away Oct. 29. She was a senior case manager coordinator in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Florida. Juliet is survived by her husband, Harold, and a stepson.</p>
<p><strong>John Sherlock ’80</strong> of Langhorne, Penn., passed away Oct. 21. He earned his master’s degree at Rochester Institute of Technology. John was the design editor at the Philadelphia Daily News for 10 years and was a member of the launch team for USA Today. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and two sons.</p>

Oct. 3. Mary Ann earned doctorates in both chemistry and environmental toxicology from Michigan State University. She worked for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for 15 years and with her husband, John Grant, owned EZ Home Ownership Realty. She is survived by her husband.</p>
<p><strong>James Shane ’83</strong> of Georgetown, Mass., died Nov. 24. He received his master’s degree from Fitchburg State College. James taught in the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, and a son.</p>

<p>James LeFlore, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology, died Jan. 3. He served with the U.S. Army in Hawaii. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate in anthropology at Syracuse University. He taught in Oswego’s anthropology department for 33 years, retiring in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of Oswego’s political science and communication studies departments; four daughters; a son; and 14 grandchildren.</p>
<p>Ernest Luongo, Professor Emeritus of Health and Physical Education, died Oct. 2. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He received his master’s degree at Cortland and his certificate of advanced study at Syracuse University. Ernie taught and coached baseball, soccer and basketball at Middleburgh Central Schools from 1953 to 1957. He taught at Oswego from 1957 until his retirement in 1985. Ernie coached the men’s varsity soccer team from 1957 to 1966. Surviving are two daughters, a son and five grandchildren. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ernest B. <p>William Todd, Professor Emeritus of Technology died Dec. 21, 2011. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and spent two years of active duty with the Naval Reserves during the Korean War. <p><strong>Oris Cosselman Hildenbrand ’39</strong> of Montrose passed away June 10. Oris later earned her bachelor’s degree at Oswego and began a 25-year teaching career in the Irvington Public School District, retiring in 1980. She earned her master’s degree at Columbia University in 1962. Oris is survived by her daughter, Martha Scott, and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Lucy Genoa Soukey ’39</strong> of Fulton died June 14. She taught in the Fulton City School District from 1958 until her retirement in 1973. Lucy is survived by three sons, two daughters, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis ’40.</p>
<p><strong>Margaret Yablonski Gawarecki ’40</strong> of Rome passed away June 20. She taught in the Mexico and Boonville school districts. Surviving are two daughters, two sons, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Gordon Skinner ’40</strong> of Walworth died May 17. He is survived by three daughters, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Scheele Valentine Ashby ’42</strong> of Naples, Fla., passed away July 14. She earned a master of library science degree at St. John’s University. Mary was a school librarian in the Huntington Union Free School District. Surviving are her children, Robert and Terry Valentine, and <strong>JoAnne Powell ’68</strong>; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Charles Loschiavo ’42</strong> of Tempe, Ariz., passed away Sept. 11. Charlie served with the Army Air Forces Band from 1942 to 1946. He also earned a master’s degree at Oswego. He taught English and journalism at Fairgrieve Junior High and Fulton High School, then at Oswego High School from 1957 to 1982. Surviving are his daughters, Meg and Christine; his sons, <strong>Joseph ’75</strong>, <strong>Thomas ’81</strong>, and Charles; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his brother, <strong>Angelo ’46</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Donald Henry ’43</strong> of Pennellville died July 16. Don served with Patton’s Third Army during World War II. He taught industrial arts technology in the Ithaca School District for 34 years. Don is survived by his wife, <strong>Genevieve Walker ’42</strong>; five children; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Enders ’48</strong> of Hendersonville, N.C., died July 24. He served as a pilot with the Army Air Corps during World War II. Richard taught industrial arts technology in Baldwinsville for 30 years. In 1967, he was honored as New York State Teacher of the Year. Surviving are a son, a daughter, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>John Adams ’50 of Baldwinsville died Oct. 27, 2010. He served with the Army Air Force during World War II. John was a teacher and vice principal in the North Syracuse School District for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three daughters; two sons, including <strong>John ’72</strong>; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Glenn Thompson ’50</strong> of Goodrich, Mich., died June 28. He had a long career as an educator, and retired as superintendent of the New York State School for the Blind. Glenn is survived by his wife, Patricia, and two sons.</p>
<p><strong>Francis Eilers ’51</strong> of Hudson Falls passed away Jan. 25. He is survived by three daughters and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>MaryAnn Hansen Hardy ’52</strong> of Old Forge passed away Feb. 26. She taught for many years in the Rochester area. She and her husband spent most of their retirement years in Chapel Hill, N.C., where MaryAnn’s passion for learning led her to take classes through the Duke Institute for Learning in Retirement. Surviving are her husband, <strong>William ’52</strong>; a son; a daughter; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>John Pauldine ’52</strong> of Liverpool died Sept. 30, 2010. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. John taught industrial arts technology in the Liverpool Central School District for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Jane; and a son, <strong>Timothy ’79</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Richard E. Truesdell ’52</strong> of North Palm Beach, Fla., and formerly of Brooklyn and Garden City, N.Y., passed away Sept. 8. Before a 34-year career in public relations as a copywriter with Union Carbide and later Hill &amp; Knowlton, Richard served in the U.S. Army with B Co., 3rd Battalion, Special Training Unit in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., and the 384th and 67th AAA Gun Battalions at Fort Bliss, Texas. At his passing, Richard is survived by his wife, <strong>Rosemary Ryan ’52</strong>; three sons; two daughters-in-law; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Eleanor Kozak Slusarczyk ’54</strong> of Prospect died June 15. She earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University. Ellye taught for 33 years in Syracuse, Whitesboro and Holland Patent. She founded the Prospect Free Library in 1969 and served as its first president of the board of trustees. She is survived by her husband, Stanley; five children; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>James Ridgeway ’61</strong> of Volney died June 26. He earned his master’s degree at Oswego and his CAS at Syracuse University. Jim taught at West Genesee Junior High School for 42 years. Surviving are his wife, Angel; a son; a daughter; and a grandson.</p>
<p><strong>Irving Gordon ’62</strong> of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away May 13, 2009.</p>
<p><strong>George Larsen ’67</strong> of Interlaken passed away Oct. 14, 2010. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. George taught industrial arts technology in Ithaca. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son; three daughters; and three grandchildren.</p>

<p><strong>Peter Moses ’70</strong> of North Syracuse passed away June 15. He earned his master’s degree at Oswego. Peter taught for a number of years at Lakeshore Elementary School. He started his own business, “Moses Antiques” and participated in antique shows throughout New York and New England. He is survived by his mother and two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Yvonne Kniskern ’71</strong> of Cortland passed away June 23. She also earned her master’s degree at Oswego. Yvonne taught for 33 years in the Hancock and Windsor School Districts. She is survived by her husband, Donald.</p>
<p><strong>Alan Angevine ’72</strong> of Montgomery passed away May 12. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and the Air National Guard during the First Gulf War and after 9/11. He was a health and safety inspector for the New York Department of Labor. Surviving are his wife, Dolores; three children; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Robert Easter ’73</strong> of Clayton died March 29. He taught industrial arts technology in Miami for a short time. He was employed as a marine mechanic at Chalks Marina and Boat Sales. Bob is survived by a son, Chris; and a brother.</p>
<p><strong>William Peters ’73</strong> of Harrisville passed away July 8. He earned a master’s at Oswego and master’s and doctoral degrees at Syracuse University. Bill was director of the Regional Education Center for Economic Development for the state Education Department until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jo, and two sons.</p>

He earned his associate’s degree from Onondaga Community College, a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Fredonia, a CAS from Oswego in 1978, a master’s degree in counseling from Oswego in 1986, a master’s degree from SUNY Buffalo, and a master’s in library science from Syracuse University. Ken taught in the Auburn and West Genesee School Districts. Prior to his retirement, he was a guidance counselor in the Oswego City School District. He is survived by his mother and a brother.</p>

<p><strong>Andrew Philion ’82</strong> of Queensbury passed away June 30, 2009. He was an assistant superintendent at Finch Pruyn. He is survived by his wife, Valerie; a son; a daughter; and a stepdaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Kathleen Stevens Spring M ’88</strong> of Liverpool died Aug. 12. She earned her bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College. Kathleen taught English in the Liverpool School District for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Jack; two sons; a daughter; seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Peter Duttweiler M ’93</strong> of Syracuse passed away Dec. 11, 2010. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College. Peter served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Eileen.</p>
<p><strong>Sara Pooler ’04</strong> of Brooklyn passed away Aug. 14. She earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University. Sara had previously taught at John Dewey High School in Brooklyn and was most recently teaching at Murry Bergtraum High School in Manhattan. She is survived by her parents, Gary and Mary Pooler.</p>
<p>Frank Dunn, former associate professor of secondary education, died Oct. 14, 2010. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State, his master’s from Columbia University and his Ed.D. from the University at Buffalo. Frank taught at Oswego from 1968 to 1972. Frank continued his career in education as the director of continuing education at SUNY Potsdam. He went on to become an administrator for school districts in Stamford, Conn., and Horseheads, retiring in 1992. Frank is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, <strong>Geoffrey ’84</strong> and David; and a granddaughter.</p>
<p>Jean Evans, former secretary in the history department, passed away June 22. Jean was employed at Oswego from 1981 until her retirement in 2006. Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the Jean Evans Memorial Scholarship, in care of the Oswego College Foundation, Inc., 219 Sheldon Hall, Oswego, NY 13126.</p>
<p>Arcenia London, former visiting assistant professor and adjunct instructor of education, passed away Aug. 14. She earned her bachelor’s degree from AM&amp;N College (now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff), and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Syracuse University. She was an educator in the Syracuse City School District for 40 years. Arcenia is survived by her husband, Harlan; two sons; a daughter; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p>Oebele Van Dyk, emeritus professor of computer science, passed away May 31. He joined the Oswego faculty in 1966, and was a founder of the computer science department. He received his Ph.D. in 1970, writing a thesis entitled, “Computer Data Banks and Human Rights”. Oebele retired in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and a daughter.</p>

<p><strong>Bertha Bond Emerson ’34, M ’56</strong> of New Haven, N.Y., died Dec. 28. She began her teaching career in Baldwinsville. She returned to school at SUNY Albany, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1938. Bea continued her teaching career in New Haven, retiring in 1983 after more than 42 years in a classroom. Surviving are a son, a daughter, two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.</p>
<p><strong>Ada Linsler Breckheimer LaRock ’37</strong> of Parish passed away Jan. 7, 2011. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Syracuse University. Ada taught in Cato, Kingston, Mount Vernon and North Syracuse. Along with her stepson-in-law, Charles Seeber, Ada established the Constance LaRock Seeber ’53 and Ada Linsler ’37 Scholarship to benefit Oswego’s School of Education. She is survived by two stepdaughters, Linda Baum and April Sargent; her stepson-in-law, Charles Seeber; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Marjorie Chapman Moore ’44</strong> of Fulton died Dec. 19. She taught in the Fulton City School District for 25 years. Surviving are two sons, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Jane Turner Terpening ’44</strong> of Westport, Conn. died Nov. 10. She taught in Booneville and Rochester. Surviving are her husband, <strong>Marshall ’47</strong>; and two sons.</p>
<p><strong>Nona Geers Shaw ’48</strong> of Oswego passed away Dec. 31. She taught at Minetto School for almost 30 years. Nona is survived by two sons, <strong>Warren ’88</strong> and Gary; and five grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Genovese ’51, M ’60</strong> of Lady Lake, Fla., died May 20. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. Tom was an industrial arts teacher at Kingsford Park School in Oswego and became the vice principal of the Oswego Middle School, retiring in 1986. Tom is survived by his wife, Anna; a daughter, <strong>Susan Bonaro ’74</strong>; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Santo Giovinazzo ’51</strong> of Binghamton died Sept. 10. He taught industrial arts technology in the Binghamton City School District for 33 years. Surviving are his wife, Ann; a son; two daughters; and nine grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>James Kerr ’53</strong> of High Point, N.C., passed away Aug. 29. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Karen Enterline ’54</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Nicholas Opinante ’53</strong> of Bayport passed away Apr. 19, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Paul Hannon ’55 </strong>of Pinellas Park, Fla., passed away Aug. 16, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Joanne.</p>
<p><strong>Joseph Campanile ’56 </strong>of North Belmore died April 18. Joseph was a supervisor of technical education, home economics and art at Wantagh High School prior to his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Florence; two daughters and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Hennessey ’58</strong> of Syracuse passed away Dec. 4, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Marion.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Dutcher ’61</strong> of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Morrisville, N.Y., passed away Dec. 19. He served with the U.S. Navy. He was an Empire farmer and owned Dutcher’s Used Cars. Richard taught automotive classes at SUNY Morrisville from 1968 to 1975. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; three sons; two daughters and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>James Richardson ’61 </strong>of Albany passed away Oct. 16, 2008.</p>
<p><strong>Martin O’Connell ’63</strong> of Staten Island died Apr. 16, 2010. He retired in 2001 from P.S. 31 in New Brighton, after more than 30 years in the classroom.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Coffey ’64</strong> of Oswego passed away Oct. 10. He retired as a captain in the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Tom taught at Kingsford Park School, retiring in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; four sons, including <strong>Thomas ’71</strong>; a daughter, <strong>JoAnne Kapuscinski ’78</strong>; and nine grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Marcia Pickard Spiker ’64 </strong>of Syracuse passed away Nov. 4. Prior to retiring, she taught at the Onondaga Nation School and for the LaFayette Central School District. Marcia is survived by her husband, Grant; a son; a daughter; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Burgin ’65</strong> of Delhi, N.Y., died Nov. 30, 2009.</p>
<p><strong>Alan Keech ’65</strong> of Tok, Alaska, died Oct. 27, 2009. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Elizabeth Pinzl ’65</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>James Pidgeon ’66 </strong>of Cranford, N.J., passed away Oct. 6. Prior to his retirement, Jim was director of admissions at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters; two grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, <strong>John ’63</strong> and <strong>Nancy Raymond Pidgeon ’65</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Arpina Amiraian ’71</strong> of Baldwinsville passed away Sept. 19. She earned her master’s degree in reading from Syracuse University. Arpina was a reading specialist with the Oswego City School District before retiring in 2004. Surviving is her<br />
husband, Joseph Bilecki.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Gill ’71</strong> of Wolcott died Oct. 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Darlene Withers ’72</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Fred Podolski ’72</strong> of North Massapequa died Oct. 1. He also earned a master’s degree at Oswego. He was an executive director at Nassau BOCES. In 2009, Fred helped develop an $18 million high-tech center for teacher training in Westbury. Surviving are his wife, Debbie, and a stepson.</p>
<p><strong>Nancy Joyce St. Onge ’72</strong> of Marietta, Ga., passed away Oct. 17. She was an educator, trainer and counselor with Oswego County Opportunities and OCM BOCES. She was a tireless volunteer for cancer awareness and advocacy, and was honored on the local, state and national levels, including being named American Cancer Society 2008 Advocate of the Year. Nancy is survived by her mother, brother and sister; four sons; three daughters, including <strong>Virginia “Ginny” ’09</strong>; and nine grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Vincent Giordano ’73</strong> of Manhattan died Dec. 11. He studied photography at C.W. Post College and the International Center for Photography. Vincent worked as a photographer, filmmaker and technical consultant for book, film and other photo-related projects. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; two step-children and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Leo Rozman ’73</strong> of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away Jan. 30, 2010. He served with the 101st Airborne during World War II and was a prisoner of war. Leo is survived by his wife, Marilyn.</p>
<p><strong>Lawrence Wright ’74</strong> of Escondido, Calif., passed away Dec. 9.</p>
<p><strong>Susan Hyatt ’75</strong> of Tacoma Park, Md., passed away Dec. 7, 2009.</p>
<p><strong>David Knopp ’76</strong> of Denver, Colo., died Sept. 16. He served with the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War. David was employed with the State of Colorado’s Employment Division for 23 years. He is survived by five brothers and a sister.</p>
<p>J<strong>oseph Savage ’77</strong> of Clifton, N.J., died Dec. 27. Joe previously served on the board of directors of the Oswego Alumni Association. He is survived by three children.</p>
<p><strong>Larry Winslow ’77</strong> of Syracuse passed away Feb. 1, 2010. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Larry worked for Miller Brewing Co. and operated Affordable Driving Co. He is survived by a daughter and a son.</p>
<p><strong>Peter Dunnigan ’79</strong> of Nyack passed away Feb. 14, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Mark Holder ’79</strong> of Shrewsbury, N.J., passed away Nov. 3. He earned a master’s degree in software engineering from Monmouth University in 1999. Mark was a technical director for BAE Systems Corp. He is survived by his wife, Teri, and three children.</p>
<p><strong>Robert Heydet ’80</strong> of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away July 11. A health physicist, he was co-owner of a radiation consulting firm. Bob is survived by a sister and a brother.</p>
<p><strong>Wendy Morgan Anderson ’82</strong> of Rome, N.Y., passed away Dec. 28. Wendy was employed with Hartford Insurance Co. She is survived by a daughter and a son.</p>
<p><strong>Donna McFarland ’83</strong> of Hannibal passed away Oct. 7. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are her husband, Andy; a daughter; a son; and two grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Shirley Curtiss ’87</strong> of Syracuse passed away Jan. 30, 2010.</p>
<p><strong>Anne Westbrook M ’91</strong> of Interlaken died Mar. 2, 2010. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Elmira College. She was a teacher and guidance counselor in the South Seneca Central School District, retiring in 2004. She spent her retirement caring for her horses, dogs and cats, most of which were strays or rescue animals.</p>
<p><strong>Peter Reiland ’92</strong> of Venice, Fla., passed away Jan. 24, 2009.</p>
<p><strong>Ronald Emmons ’94</strong> of Oswego died Oct. 10. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and two children.</p>
<p><strong>Marion Green ’99</strong> of Oswego died Oct. 22. Marion worked at Penfield Library for 46 years and coordinated the SUNY Oswego Drive for Toys to help children in need. She was an active volunteer for the campus SEFA/United Way campaign and a tutor for Literacy Volunteers, among other community service. She is survived by two sisters, a sister-in-law and stepdaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Sarah Eggleston ’00, M ’08</strong> of Fulton died Oct. 31. Sarah taught Spanish at Kenney Middle School in Hannibal. Surviving are her parents, Tom and Kris; two brothers and a sister.</p>
<p><strong>Christopher Peterson ’07 </strong>of West Nyack passed away Oct. 10. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Debra, and his brother, Ryan.</p>
<p>Kathy Budd, Associate Professor of Art, passed away Dec. 23. She earned a bachelor of fine arts at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and an MFA at the University of Washington. Kathy joined the Oswego faculty in 1999. Donations for an award for students in sculpture may be made to Oswego College Foundation, Inc., 219 Sheldon Hall, SUNY, Oswego, NY 13126. A retrospective of her artwork will open in the fall of 2011 in Tyler Art Gallery. Former students are invited to participate in this exhibit and should contact Michael Flanagan, Tyler Art Gallery, SUNY Oswego.</p>
<p>Marietta Quinn, Associate Librarian Emerita, of Utica passed away Sept. 9. She received her bachelor’s degree from Utica College and her master’s degree from SUNY Geneseo.</p>
<p>Charles Williams, former instructor in Oswego’s language lab, of Sebring, Fla., died Dec. 26.<br />
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard. Surviving are his wife, Maude; three sons; a daughter; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Ella Taylor Dale ’36</strong> of Rindge, N.H., died July 11. She  taught third grade for 21 years in Uniondale. Ella is survived by a son, four  grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.<span id="more-543"></span></p>
<p><strong>Hazel Dean Zbytniewski ’36 </strong>of West Branch passed away  June 24. She taught for more than 50 years, including at West Leyden Central  School and the Rome City School District. Hazel is survived by a son, a  daughter, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas Morrison ’42</strong> of Newark died May 24. He served  with the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, Tom opened a radio  business, eventually adding television and appliances to the business. He  retired in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sons; and three  grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Lillian Tucker Davids ’46</strong> of Morehead City, N.C., died  Aug. 2.<br />
She is survived by her husband, <strong>Raymond “Buck” ’46;</strong> three sons; four  daughters; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Joseph Mondello ’49</strong> of Kitty Hawk, N.C., passed away  June 3. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. Joe earned a  master’s degree at St. John’s College. He taught in Hauppauge Public Schools for  many years,<br />
retiring as principal of Pines Elementary School in 1979.  Surviving are a daughter, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Catherine Kovac Muller ’49</strong> of Fort Wayne, Ind., died  Aug. 2. She had been a teacher in New York and Pennsylvania. Kay is survived by  her husband, Richard; a son; and four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Coolidge Braley ’52</strong> of Chestertown, N.Y., and  Bradenton, Fla., passed away May 30. Prior to college, he served with the U.S.  Army at the end of World War II. Coolidge earned a master’s degree at St.  Lawrence University. He taught industrial arts and driver’s education at North  Warren Central School from 1952 until his retirement in 1985. Surviving are his  wife, Lois; two sons; two daughters; six grandchildren; and five  great-grandsons.</p>
<p><strong>Joseph Lomonico ’53</strong> of Fair Lawn, N.J., passed away  June 2, 2010. Joe served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps after graduation. He  earned a master’s degree from Columbia University. He taught at Fair Lawn  High School for 32 years. Joe also established the Fair Lawn Driving School in  1959 and it is still family-owned. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Inge Adler ’53; </strong> two daughters; a son; and seven grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Hilda Judge M ’54</strong> of Florence, S.C., died May 15  at the age of 103. She received her bachelor’s degree from the College of<br />
St. Rose. Hilda taught in the Onondaga School District and was a  remedial reading consultant before retiring. She is survived by a son,  four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a  great-great-granddaughter.</p>
<p><strong>Harry King ’54</strong> of Canton died July 26. He earned an  associate’s degree at Canton A.T.I. and a master’s degree at St. Lawrence  University. Prior to retiring, Harry taught at SUNY Canton. Surviving are three  daughters and four grandchildren, including <strong>Samantha MacArthur ’08.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Anthony Romano ’54</strong> of Camillus passed away Aug. 7. He  served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Anthony earned an engineering  degree from Syracuse University in 1968. He was employed at General Electric for  more than 25 years. Surviving are his wife, <strong>Antoinette Solazzo ’55;</strong> three sons;  a daughter; and 16 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Maureen Hartigan Cohn ’56</strong> of Hammondsport died Aug. 8.  She taught in Hammondsport Central School and was a guidance counselor in the  Oswego area. Maureen is survived by two daughters, a grandson, two stepdaughters  and two stepsons.</p>
<p><strong>Janis Dexter Taylor M ’56</strong> of Los Alamos, N.M., died  April 16. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Oberlin College. She taught in  Evanston, Ill., and Los Alamos. Jan is survived by her husband, Dean; a  daughter; a son; and three grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Arthur Cardinali ’57</strong> of Falls Church, Va., passed away  March 4, 2008. Among his survivors is his daughter, Lisa Cardinali Levine ’86.</p>
<p><strong>Ronald Guyer ’58 </strong>of Denton, Texas, passed away July 2.  He is<br />
survived by his wife, Annelise.</p>
<p><strong>Arlene Zecher Clough ’59 </strong>of Ava died Aug. 23. She  taught for many years in Rome City Schools. Arlene is survived by a daughter,  three sons, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>George Gilmore ’59</strong> of Hudson Falls passed away Sept.  14, 2009. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps. George earned a bachelor’s  degree from Purdue University in 1950. In 1949, he co-founded B&amp;G Equipment  Co., a manufacturer of pest control. He went on to work in his family’s pest  control business before deciding on a career in teaching. George taught  industrial arts for 21 years at Hudson Falls Junior High School, retiring in  1980. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons; and three grandsons,  including <strong>Venance Akissi ’08.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Michael Rinko ’60</strong> of New Hartford passed away May 13.  He served with the U.S. Navy Reserves. Michael taught in Herkimer, Saratoga,  Greenwich and Utica. He is survived by three brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Richard Haug ’61</strong> of Center Moriches died March 8, 2008.  He is survived by four children and 10 grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Alphonse Salerno ’62 </strong>of White Plains died Feb. 3. He  served with the U.S. Army. Al taught in California and New Rochelle before  opening Salerno’s Coach House Restaurant. He retired in 2005. Surviving are his  wife, <strong>Jennie DiMatteo ’58;</strong> and a son.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Whitehead ’67</strong> of Oswego passed away Aug. 19. He  served with the U.S. Army. Dan taught at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School in  Phoenix for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, <strong>Susan Dorgan ’65, </strong>two sons,  and six grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Mary Wiecha ’67,</strong> who taught English at Oswego, passed  away May 4. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Wiecha, Distinguished  Teaching Professor Emeritus, and three sons, <strong>Joseph ’77,</strong> Charles and John.</p>
<p><strong>Joan Cserne Knapton ’68</strong> of East Nassau died Aug. 28.  She received her master’s degree from the University at Albany. Joan is survived  by her husband, <strong>Dean ’68;</strong> two daughters, <strong>Amy Cornell ’91</strong> and Cathy Sweeney; and  four grandchildren.</p>
<p><strong>Roy Potucek ’70</strong> of Cato passed away May 31. Roy served  with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He taught industrial arts technology at Liverpool  High School for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Surviving are his wife, Diane; a son  and a grandson.</p>
<p><strong>Robert Gresham ’71</strong> of Warners passed away Aug. 15. He  taught technology at Mexico High School, retiring in 2004. Surviving are his  wife, Kathy; two daughters and one grandchild.</p>
<p><strong>Curtis Toepp ’74</strong> of Baldwinsville died July 29. He was  employed with Anheuser-Busch for 28 years, retiring in 2008. He is survived by  his wife, Barbara.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Tetro ’77</strong> of Fulton died July 14. He owned  Cavone’s Pizza Supply for 18 years. Dan is survived by three brothers.</p>
<p><strong>L. Suzanne Bertrand ’78</strong> of Hot Springs Village,  Ark., died Dec. 4, 2009.</p>
<p><strong>Karen Kaplan ’79</strong> of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Nov.  7, 2009. She is survived by her parents and two brothers.</p>
<p><strong>Peter Mahon ’79</strong> of Waldorf, Md., died July 22. He was a  social studies teacher at LaPlata High School. Peter is survived by two sisters and a brother.</p>
<p><strong>David “Agarn” Crisafulli ’81</strong> of Oswego passed away  Sept. 23. He received his MBA from Syracuse University. Dave was an employee  concerns manager with Constellation Energy. He recently published his own  autobiography, Good Enough. He was a professional scout for Paramount Major  League Baseball and a member of SUNY Oswego’s Baseball Hall of Fame. Dave is  survived by two sons. Donations to the David “Agarn” Crisafulli ’81 Fund may be  made to the Oswego College Foundation, 219 Sheldon Hall.</p>
<p><strong>Raymond Leggiero ’81</strong> of North Syracuse died July 24,  2010. He was a software engineer for Sensis Corp. Ray is survived by his wife,  <strong>Patricia Wakefield ’81,</strong> and three sons.</p>
<p><strong>Thomas “Cody” Salsberg ’81</strong> of Bay Shore died June 29.  He retired after 20 years as a Nassau County police officer. He is survived by  his longtime companion, Karen Clark.</p>
<p>Curt Van Cott ’88 of Commack passed away Sept. 4. He  was a dentist in Middle Island. Curt is survived by his wife, Marianne; two  daughters; and his father, Roy.</p>
<p>Joan Gibson, Associate Professor Emerita of Counseling  and Psychological Services passed away May 31, 2010. She earned a bachelor’s  degree at D’Youville College, master’s degrees at Canisius College and Buffalo  State, and a Ph.D. at SUNY Buffalo. Joan is survived by her partner, Diane  Johnson; her stepdaughter and her grandson.</p>
