What has been your experience with the SUNY Oswego faculty?

All of the professors I've had here have really made an effort to get to know me and know me by name. I've especially gotten to know professors within my majors very well, and they've become more like mentors to me in my academic career.

Olivia Smith

Why did you choose your major?

I chose HR because I thought it fit my strengths of communication, and my interest in business and working with others. At home I worked as a tour guide at Howe Caverns and really enjoyed it, leading me to choose PR.

Mathew Bilodeau

What has been your experience with the SUNY Oswego faculty?

The Oswego faculty have been tremendously accommodating for me and have inspired me to help others in need.

Maryjay Olalekan

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

My favorite thing to do on campus is go to different clubs and organizations and enjoy their weekly meetings which is always very educational.

Autumn Pollock

Why did you choose your major?

The professors have real-life knowledge that showed me where my major could lead.

Andrew Saunders

What are some of your accomplishments in college?

My proudest accomplishment is becoming one of the select few to be invited to join the Chartered Financial Analyst research team for the School of Business.

Gabriele Candela

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

My favorite thing to do on campus is dance with all of my friends in Del Sarte Dance Club and at our annual semester recital!

Chase Hofmann

Why did you choose SUNY Oswego?

I transferred to Oswego the spring semester of my freshman year, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If I were to pinpoint a few specific reasons for my choice it would be the beautiful location along the lake, the vast choices of majors and minors, and the student population size is not too big, not too small.

Sarah Parsons

What has your experience been like with the SUNY Oswego faculty?

My first year advisor helped me realize that being a human development major was the right fit for me! If it wasn’t for her guidance, I would probably would still be searching for my major.

Zachary Nunez

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

The thing that I look forward to the most is hosting my radio show on WNYO every week. My favorite event that we have on campus is OzFest.

“I received more than I could have dreamed of at SUNY Oswego. I received financial support from many resources, long lasting friendships, networking opportunities and experiences I couldn’t have gotten anywhere else. This is not just any old program, it really caters to the individual and creates long lasting opportunities. My heart is still so full.”

We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.

“Graduate school helped me narrow down what I wanted to do. The faculty helped with my resume, my cover letter, and anything that could help me get ahead. I was able to research any area that I liked, and it didn't matter if it benefited them. They care about the outcome of the students.”

“In my four years, I was able to successfully complete my undergraduate degree, receive various awards and scholarships while being involved on campus and in the community. However, the most valuable of all, were the memories and life long friendships that I was able to make.”

"Overall, it's been amazing. When (younger students) find out I'm a veteran and that I have experience and knowledge, they find out they can access that just by talking to me. It's wonderful that someone in their early 20s actually wants to listen to what I have to say."

As a transfer student, I would highly encourage other transfer students to look at Oswego State. They have provided me a smooth transition, they have an incredible amount of helpful and knowledgeable staff, and many academic and extra-curricular programs that will always keep you busy and growing.

Expectations and process

Please be aware that although the OAR program is voluntary, it is a very prestigious and selective program. An interview will be required for all applicants, and if accepted, further training and an evaluation will follow.

Caroline Mooney

What have the faculty at SUNY Oswego done for you?

The faculty here at Oswego are always reminding me to produce my best work.

Tori Kammer

What is your favorite thing to do on campus, and why?

My favorite thing to on campus is dance with Del Sarte Dance Club. Del Sarte is a judgment-free dance club that incorporates all styles of dance at various levels. We perform two recitals a year that are choreographed and run completely by students. Through Del Sarte, I have learned new styles of dance, improved on basic technique, made many great friends, and I have been given numerous leadership opportunities. I am so grateful to be able to continue my passion for dance at Oswego!

Samantha Basset

What is your favorite thing to do on campus?

My favorite thing to do on campus is to go down by the lake at any time of day. Whether it is a calm sunny day, at sunset, or even a windy day when the waves are huge, it is a beautiful sight that I want to take in as much as possible.

Jade Laplante

Why did you choose SUNY Oswego?

I chose Oswego because I fell in love with the campus when I visited, and the staff is so welcoming and helpful to its students.

Samantha Lesser

What has your experience been like with the faculty at SUNY Oswego?

The faculty on the SUNY Oswego campus is amazing. They have all in one way or another helped me. Whether it was the advisement centers from both the School of Communication and the School of Education or the amazing professors I have had. All of the Oswego staff have been so kind and helpful!

Rianne Hoffman

So far, my proudest accomplishment at SUNY Oswego would be becoming the Recruitment intern for the Office of Admissions.

Nathan DeSantis

I transferred here for more opportunity in my majors and minor.

Felecia Lesser

Rhiannon Bonawitz

What are some of your accomplishments while in college?

I am very proud to be a tour guide as I was extremely shy in high school, and feel I have pushed myself to become a better person. I am also very proud of going to the Czech Republic and experiencing a new culture there, as well as making some new friends.

Ryan North

Why did you choose your major?

I have known from a young age that I wanted to study the weather. When I was in kindergarten, I told my teacher that I liked to draw clouds and one day I would predict them.

Mary McIntyre

Why did you choose SUNY Oswego?

I chose SUNY Oswego because I saw how much my tour guide enjoyed being on campus and Oswego was the only place I could see being my home.

Mike Russo

Why did you choose SUNY Oswego?

I chose SUNY Oswego the moment I came on campus. Looking around at that beautiful lakeside view and seeing how much going on around campus is really sealed the deal. For me SUNY Oswego embodies the "college experience" and I feel like it's a second home..

Cassie Carudo

What has been your experience with the SUNY Oswego faculty?

Some of the professors I've had at Oswego have had a major impact on my life. Maintaining good relationships with my professors has led to a couple of teaching assistant positions at the school, and they've given me great advice about my future career.

Why did you choose your major and minor?

I chose my major because, although I love the science and fact based aspects of Psychology, I wanted to understand the introspection and theory based parts of the mind as well that Philosophy gets into. I also love doing art, which is why I chose my minor.
