Honors Convocation to celebrate students, feature successful alumna

SUNY Oswego's annual Honors Convocation will celebrate student academic achievement at 3 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the Marano Campus Center arena and convocation hall, with a keynote by Joni Daniels, a 1977 Oswego alumna, author and principal and founder of her consulting practice, Daniels & Associates.
Honors Convocation will recognize the achievements of around 115 students throughout the disciplines. Sponsored by Vega, the women's honor society, the event takes place during Oswego's Honors Week highlighting the outstanding accomplishments of students and faculty.
Awards from academic departments, the Oswego Alumni Association, Oswego College Foundation and Division of Extended Learning, as well as the Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence, will mark this celebration of academic success.
Members of the campus community, family members and friends are invited to attend the admission-free event, which also includes free parking.
Alumna achiever
A nationally recognized authority in her field, Joni Daniels is a sought-after resource for Fortune 500 clients, professional and not-for-profit organizations, higher education, government and small businesses. For more than 30 years, Daniels has been a leader in professional and personal empowerment and leadership management development.
Daniels is dedicated to supporting people and organizations in accomplishing their goals and objectives through management development training programs, presentations, one-on-one guided execution/consulting and facilitation of meetings and retreats.
Author of “Power Tools for Women: Plugging into the Essential Skills for Life and Work,” Daniels has served as an instructor in management topics for a variety of colleges and universities, including the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School Small Business Development Center, Temple University and Towson University, and in the executive MBA program with the Sellinger School at Loyola University/Maryland.
Daniels is frequently quoted in business publications, and is regular contributor for CityBizList.com. She also has been a regular contributor for the Baltimore Business Journal and ABC2NEWS’s Good Morning Maryland @9’s Back2Work segment. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Baltimore School for the Arts and as the facilitator of TEDCO’s Women’s Executive Leadership Roundtable.
She earned her bachelor's degree in English at SUNY Oswego, followed by a master's in counseling from the College at Brockport.
