Good deeds are among the goals for the Laker men’s and women’s hockey teams on Friday, Nov. 30, as two home games will include a Teddy Bear Toss benefiting Toys for Tots and a food and toy drive supporting the local SEFA/United Way campaign.
The Oswego State men's hockey team game with Brockport at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Marano Campus Center arena will include the third annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears and/or stuffed animals to toss on the ice after the Lakers score their first goal, which netted 736 stuffed animals for local families last year.
All of the teddy bears/stuffed animals thrown on ice will be collected and distributed by Toys for Tots to children in Oswego County for the holidays. Stuffed animals will also be available for a donation at the Toys for Tots table that evening.
At the Nov. 30 women’s game against Plattsburgh, starting at 3 p.m., and the evening men’s game, the hockey teams will collect canned goods and toys prior to their respective games. These donations are part of an annual campaign by both teams to help the State Employees Federated Appeal and the United Way of Oswego County brighten the holidays for local families in need.
Men's game tickets cost $8 for the public, free for SUNY Oswego students and children under 5; for the women's game, tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 17, and free for SUNY Oswego students and children under 5. Tickets are available at any campus box office, by calling 315-312-3073 or online at tickets.oswego.edu.
