The sounds of Southern and classic rock and some acoustic pop hits will fill the arena in SUNY Oswego’s Marano Campus Center Saturday, June 11, as two regional bands take the stage to help raise money for a student scholarship at the college.
The “Hoedown Concert” will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. and will feature The Gravelding Brothers (with lead singer Nick Gravelding, SUNY Oswego class of 1991) and JUMBOshrimp (with lead singer Tom Willette, SUNY Oswego class of 1993).
The concert is co-sponsored by the Oswego Alumni Association and Delta Kappa Kappa, in conjunction with the fraternity’s 90th anniversary and the college’s annual Reunion Weekend. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the DKK Scholarship that will be awarded to a SUNY Oswego student.
The four-member Gravelding Brothers hail from the Binghamton area, and fans might know lead singer Gravelding from his former band, Frostbit Blue, first started in college. The band’s repertoire includes popular tunes from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Outlaws and the Allman Brothers.
JUMBOshrimp bills itself as the biggest little band in Rochester, and the guitar-drum duo plays current hits and popular favorites, with Willette singing lead on everything from Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” to the Dave Matthews Band’s “Jimi Thing.”
Tickets are $22 and can be purchased at the door. Parking is available in any lot on campus.
Cash beer, wine, soda and concession food items will be available for purchase.
