SUNY Oswego will host its 77th annual Technology Fall Conference on Thursday, Oct. 27, and Friday, Oct. 28, featuring presentations and workshops from the college’s faculty and students, as well as educators from across the state and technology corporations.

About 500 people attend each year—the conference is open to all educators from kindergarten through college and to other professionals interested in the latest developments in technology education. Educators who attend the conference will be eligible to earn up to 12 professional development hours.

Richard Bush, conference chair and a technology department faculty member, said 60 to 70 SUNY Oswego students participate in the conference each year in a variety of ways.

“The students have always been a big part in the conference,” Bush said. “They host presentations, assist presenters and help with registration. They play a very integral role.”

Bush said there are more than 60 presentations scheduled this year. They will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 in Wilbur and Park halls on the SUNY Oswego campus. Among the offerings, he said, are a presentation on robotics by SUNY Oswego technology department faculty member Dan Tryon, long active with college students in mentoring area schoolchildren for VEX Robotics competitions.

Conference program chair and web coordinator is Mark Springston of the college’s technology faculty. Technology chair Mark Hardy and faculty member Edward Zak are the commercial exhibitor liaison and conference registration coordinator, respectively.
