OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego's School of Business appears on the new U.S. News and World Report graduate school rankings as the highest-ranking institution in Central New York for part-time MBA programs.

The college ranks 151st in the listing, released March 14.

"Part-time business programs play a vital role for working people who can't go to school full time because of family or financial reasons," U.S. News notes in its rankings release.

The ranking factors in peer assessment score; average GMAT and GRE scores of part-time MBA students entering in fall 2016; their average years of work experience; their average undergraduate grade-point averages; and percentage of college’s MBA program enrollment that is part-time.

Oswego is one of only three public colleges in New York in the rankings -- and only one of two SUNY schools, tied with SUNY at Albany at 151st.

MBA honors

The latest ranking joins many others for SUNY Oswego’s MBA program, most notably 20th in U.S. News' "Best Online Degree Programs: MBA" rankings, released in January 2017. In those rankings, Oswego tops all schools in New York state.

Oswego—the first comprehensive college in the SUNY system to offer an MBA degree, starting in 1997—has increased the options students have for specializing within their graduate business studies, offering MBA programs in health services administration, management and public accounting. The college also offers a variety of five-year options that combine an MBA with such bachelor’s degrees as broadcasting, psychology and public accounting.

MBA delivery options include classroom-based in Oswego and/or at SUNY Oswego in Syracuse, blended classroom-online programs and the well-regarded online MBA.
