SUNY Oswego Metro Center will host a comprehensive information session from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, for students interested in completing a degree at the college’s downtown Syracuse location—and for students or parents interested in any Oswego program.

Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. Those planning to attend should preregister at oswego.edu/syracuse; free parking will be provided to those who do.

Recently earning branch campus status, the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in the Atrium building on Clinton Square will begin this fall to offer undergraduate degree completion programs, as well as graduate degrees and professional development programs.

The branch campus will provide upper-division classes needed to complete undergraduate degrees in business administration, public justice and human development. Community college transfer students, location-bound students, working professionals and adults returning to school all can benefit from finishing their degrees in Central New York’s urban hub, officials said.

“We are excited to offer this comprehensive information session,” said Dr. Kimberly Armani, director of SUNY Oswego Metro Center. “We want to provide people living and working in the greater Syracuse area all the information they need about our new programs. But we realize many students and parents may have questions about other SUNY Oswego programs, whether here or on the main campus in Oswego or online.  Access to a wide array of campus offices will allow participants to get answers to their questions.”

Armani and Ryan Lynn, Metro Center student resources adviser, said many representatives of the college will be on hand: admissions, advisement, financial aid, graduate studies, the MBA office, the School of Education, faculty from business administration, public justice and human development departments—even members of the Downtown Committee, who will speak about the advantages of attending the downtown Syracuse campus.

“SUNY Oswego has a reputation for strong academic programming,” Armani said. “This is SUNY Oswego’s effort to make these degree programs and courses more accessible to the greater Central New York area, especially for those who find it difficult or inconvenient to attend in Oswego or who don’t want to take all their classes online.”
