  5. Committee Reports

    • ITC Report (Theresa)
    • Met this past Tuesday, April 5th.  Tried to finalize Regular and Substantive Interaction.  We fixed it and just need to finalize it and send it to Rameen for approval.  Once we get it back we will present it to FA and BC
    • Education Tech Subcommittee (John)
      • What do faculty think they need for classroom technology? What are the most pressing needs for classrooms today?
      • Martin Koen - Old institution front and side walls were painted white so that we could project on that wall and use it as a whiteboard.  We could use white board.  It is extremely hard in Mahar.  The screens that you pull down are difficult.
      • Encourage students to log into zoom and use the annotation.  Difficult to use the white board because it is behind the screen.  Sean - Will be doing a construction project in Mahar.  It is a couple years away, we are at the point that we will probably not put any large investments in Mahar.  We will make sure everything works well.
      • Tyrone - Hyflex classrooms for summer.  Identified a couple spots - multiple cameras, microphones, equipment - waiting on one more piece of equipment that is shipping in June.  We will have a couple of spaces ready for fall.  If there is a space that you would like to talk about, please let us know as soon as possible.  If we can accommodate the needs, we will.  John - My understanding is that Mahar has been moved up because of the poor ventilation.  Ty - Electrical has also been an issue in Mahar.  John - Another is that people are used to dual monitors.  Need better microphones.  Leigh - Have been in meetings, computer labs for classrooms, what the best practices would be for those.  Do we encourage collaboration? A very important point that Dave made to me is offering something to students that they don’t have at home.  For example curved gaming monitors that have better graphics.  Dave - The discussion was to entice students to come to labs to give them something that they don’t have at home.  Higher graphics and software that they don’t have off campus.  Sean - Higher performance computers - there is talk of a gaming minor.  Julie Pretzat is getting a group together to talk about that.
    • TIP Grants 2021-2022 Update - Spring opportunities announced.
    • CTS Report
      • Admin team has been working on a lot of projects.
      • Curricula updates
      • Financial Aid update
      • New application for Starr Wheeler, Accommodate
      • Close to a Millenium Ultra update

SET Pilot for Spring 2022 (Dan Laird)
Raihan - If they have started and selected to continue later, do they get a reminder?  Dan - Yes.

    Multi Factor Authentication (Sean)

Has been going pretty well. Just a handful of calls at the Help Desk.  We updated the instructions.  Turned it off in the classrooms.  By Wednesday we had approached about 1,500.  We have about 575 students that have preconfigured.  Monday it will be turned on for residential students.  The following Monday (April 18th) it will be for everyone else.  It is for Zoom, BB, Adobe and a few other items.  Commend the team that has been working on it.  Jennifer Carter - the only one that has an MFA is Banner.  Sean - Not sure, we will have to follow up on it.  Students are complaining regarding SMS charges on their personal phone bills.  They could set it up so that the phone calls instead of text message.  The Authenticator app also avoids SMS charges.  Greg - There is a timer on Zoom that could be kicking in at the same time.

Digital Learning Environment and the Student Evaluation of Teaching pilot (Kathi Dutton)

Theresa - Encourage everyone to use the CPD resources.  We will be able to use their asynchronous courses so that our faculty can use them within our instance of Bright Space.  Kathi - If you are not a pilot faculty you will not have access until early May.  If you are one of the 60 people make sure you have your sandbox set up.  The information on how to get a sandbox account is on the campus DLE website.  Any work you do in the sandbox, you can copy that over to your course into the Oswego tennant.  Need to utilize all the resources that are available.

Ritu will be stepping down as chair.  We have asked people.  Leigh Wilson will be taking over for one year.  Have reached out to others and if you would like to let us know.  We will be incorporating Star into some of the work that we do.

    Adjourn
Motion to adjourn, Theresa Gilllard Cook, second Dave Bozak.  All in favor.
