Swetman Gymnasium, which opened in 1963, is attached to Marano Campus Center and is adjacent to Poucher Hall. The gymnasium is used by the campus community for open recreation, club activities and intramurals.

Function
Swetman Gymnasium, which opened in 1963, is attached to Marano Campus Center and is adjacent to Poucher Hall. The gymnasium is used by the campus community for open recreation, club activities and intramurals. The sports available for students range from badminton and indoor soccer to volleyball and basketball.
Namesake
Ralph Waldo Swetman served as the college's president 1933 - 1947, beginning his tenure when it was still the Oswego State Normal and Training School. Five years into Swetman's term, Oswego became a teacher's school, as it would remain through his retirement. During his time at Oswego, Swetman was known for expanding the number of awarded degrees and introducing more classes for students. Prior to serving at Oswego, Swetman was the president of Arizona State University, holding the position 1930 - 1933.
