Laker Turf Field Stadium
The Laker Turf Field Stadium opened for use in fall 2015. Located adjacent to Romney Field House, off of Route 104, the stadium includes a state of the art, multi-sport turf field that hosts home matches for men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer and field hockey. The stands, located on the west side of the field, have a seating capacity of 1,000 persons and a 480-square foot press box for the media. The fields have already seen success for their teams, with field hockey (fall ‘16) and women’s lacrosse (spring ‘16) having their best seasons in more than a decade. Both teams proved especially effective at home, with field hockey going 6-3 at home and women’s lacrosse going 7-2. Offensively, men’s lacrosse excelled at home in 2017, scoring 86 of their 149 goals at home and averaging more than 10.5 goals per game.
“My entire field hockey career I played on grass, so during high school I never had the opportunity to play on turf. I think I play way smoother than on the grass and it makes me feel like I’m moving faster. Having turf fields, you know you’re always going to be able to play, whereas grass can result in a lot of rescheduling and that can be hectic.” - Jordan Sheehy, senior forward, field hockey team
