Curriculum and Instruction Field Experience

Candidates are expected to attend their placement every week during the semester. Block I and II candidates must attend their placement for 2.5 to 3 hours weekly. For Block III candidates, time spent in the classroom can vary from 1.5 to 3 full days per week, depending on the program that you are in. Make sure you have a clear understanding of the program requirements before heading into Block III.

Registration and Sign-up Days

Curriculum and Instruction candidates must register for field experience courses through my Oswego the same way they register for all classes. After registering, you must attend one of our sign-up days at the end of the semester prior to each placement to complete the application.

Spring 2025

Dates have been scheduled for in-person sign-ups as follows:

Wednesday, Novemeber 13th, 2024: Any time between 9am-4pm

Thursday, November 14th, 2024: Any time between 9am-4pm

Friday, November 15, 2024: Any time between 9am-4pm

Signups are located at 208 Park Hall (Computer Lab).

For anyone who did not attend sign-ups, it will be your responsibility to come to the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office, located at 175 Wilber Hall, to complete the necessary paperwork for a placement. 

Please allow at least 15 minutes on one of these dates to complete your Tk20 application; you should not skip or miss any class time.

Note: You must register through MyOswego for the appropriate and aligned courses and allow a 5-hour block of time in your schedule for placements to occur.

Orientation and Training

Candidates must attend orientation sessions based on the block they are in for each semester. 

Spring 2025

Block I - EDU 303

Orientation (One In-person Session - attendance mandatory)

Session 1: January 31st, 3:30pm-5:00pm

Block I Orientation is a collaboration between the Block I professor and the Clinical Practice and Partnerships Office.  The instructor will send information about this orientation via email; please watch your email carefully! 

C&I Group Advisement Zoom Meeting (Two Remote Sessions - only attend one session)

Session 1:  Thursday, February 6, 2025, 4:30 - 5:30 pm

OR

Session 2:  Friday, February 7, 2025, 10:30 - 11:30 am

Information about this orientation will be sent to you by the Curriculum & Instruction Advisement Center via email; please watch your email carefully!  All Block I candidates MUST attend one of these sessions in order to complete field experience. RSVP via email poll in early February; a Zoom meeting link will be emailed to you. 

This mandatory group advisement meeting is for all Adolescence, TESOL, and Childhood Education majors in Block One. Topics include NYS teacher certification exams, scholarships and study abroad opportunities, degree requirements, fingerprinting information, and more.
