Campus Center Arena Fitness Center FAQ
The Fitness Center will temporarily operate in the Marano Center Ice Arena for the remainder of the spring semester. Below you will find a FAQ covering what you need to know about the new location. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate contact fitness@oswego.edu. Please follow our Instagram page for other announcement and fun information
Why is the fitness center operating in the arena and not in Cooper or Glimmerglass?
With the current safety restrictions in place due to COVID-19, operating out of Cooper and Glimmerglass would be difficult. Both Cooper and Glimmerglass are relatively small spaces and do not have sufficient air circulation. The Ice Arena provides a tremendous amount of space and air circulation. We realize our student body needs an indoor place to exercise and the arena provides a wonder opportunity.
What will be available to use in the ice arena?
We will try our best mimic what is available in both Cooper and Glimmerglass in terms of equipment and service. There will be a mix of cardio, strength and functional equipment available to use as well ample open space to move around. We are unable to bring all the equipment over from Cooper and Glimmerglass; however, we hope to provide all encompassing fitness location. Feel free to stop by to check out what we have available
What else can the arena offer?
All participants will have access to the arena stairs and the upper concourse to walk or jog.
What are the hours of operation?
Monday – Thursday: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
Friday: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
How do I access the arena?
The entry is at the skate shop entrance on the first floor of Marano Campus Center near the food court. When entering into Arena, please head to the right to check in with a fitness center staff member. You will need to swipe in with your ID and show the staff member the “COVID-19 Testing Verification” app screen with a "Yes" on it. When exiting the Arena, we ask that you swipe out at the computer terminal located at the exit. We ask that you please bring a change of shoes as well.
Will there be group exercise classes?
Yes, the north end of the arena will act as our group exercise space. Classes will include toning, cycling, Zumba and possibly yoga. The schedule will be published soon.
Will there be a membership fee?
Yes. The membership fee will be $55 for all students. You can sign up here. For Faculty/Staff Rates, please contact fitness@oswego.edu for more information.
What other safety precautions will be put in place?
Safety to our members will be our number one priority. To be successful in stopping the spread, everyone has to chip in.
- Masks are required at all times in the Campus Center (no “Buffs or “Gaiters”)
- All students must show the results of the “COVID-19 Testing Verification” app to the fitness center staff member prior to entering the Arena.

Will I need to make a reservation to use the fitness center?
At this time, you will not need to make a reservation to use the new fitness center space. However, if we reach capacity, you will have to wait until someone leaves. Based on past usage numbers, we do not believe we will reach capacity. If we do run into capacity issues, we will reevaluate our policies.
If I am not required test weekly at the Lee Hall Testing center due to all my classes being remote, will I have to test now to use the Fitness Center.
