Bio: Hello everyone! I'm Johnnise, and I am excited to tell you all about my life-changing study abroad experience in Japan. It opened my eyes to a whole new world, and now I'm here to share my experiences with you! Hoping to give you the best possible advice. Traveling has always been my passion, and I have been fortunate to travel to other countries and have developed a deep love and appreciation for many different cultures. Also, I love learning new languages, as I am currently learning Korean and Japanese.  I can't wait to connect with all of you. See you soon!

Study Abroad Mentor

Majors: Graphic Design/Illustration Minor
Fluent Languages: English
Study Abroad: Madrid, Spain Quarter Course SUMMER'23
Bio: This summer I traveled abroad for Oswego's first ever studio art program held in Madrid. The trip took place throughout the month of June and involved two classes, art history and an experimental drawing and painting course. I really enjoyed the classes because they were very interactive and we were able to enjoy the culture while participating. Visiting different cities and museums during our history classes was extremely fun. There was also a lot of freedom given to us during the trip. I was able to really enjoy my time outside of class and I received lots of helpful tips from my teachers on what to do and where to go. Bringing my camera was one of my favorite aspects of the trip, I loved looking at the culture through an artistic lens. I am extremely happy that I decided to take this trip and I got more out of it than I would have expected.

Study Abroad Mentor

Majors: Secondary Education, Concentration in Spanish/Athletic Coaching Minor
Fluent Languages: English, Spanish
Study Abroad: Barcelona, Spain F'22
Bio: I studied abroad in the fall of 2022 to help grow my Spanish language skills as well as to learn more about the culture in Spain. It is very important to me to learn as much as I can about Spanish-speaking countries because I am going to become a Spanish teacher in the future and since it is not my own culture I want to have real-life experiences that I can share with my future students. That was my goal when I chose to study abroad, but it became so much more and I now have so many friends all over the world and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Outside of school, I have a passion for health and fitness and I also enjoy reading.

Study Abroad Mentor

Majors: Geology/Sustainability and Technology Minors
Fluent Languages: English
Study Abroad: Rome, Florence and Venice, Italy SP'23
Bio: I first traveled outside the country for my 16th birthday, to Finland, France, and Belgium. I absolutely fell in love with experiencing different countries and learning about different cultures, and decided then that I wanted to study abroad in college. But besides my love of traveling, I also love to paint and be outside to ski, hike, or hang out with my friends at the beach. Some things I am involved with on campus include the Geology and Women in STEM Clubs!

Study Abroad Mentor

Majors: French, Global and International Studies
Fluent Languages: English, French
Study Abroad: Paris, France F'23 | Rome, Florence & Venice, Italy Quarter Course SP'23
Bio: I'm a junior at SUNY Oswego currently studying abroad in Paris, taking coursework at the Sorbonne University. This is my second experience with an International and Education Abroad program, having recently done a quarter course to Italy in the Spring 23’ semester. Getting the chance to explore new cultures has been a rewarding experience that I hope to share with prospective students considering going abroad! In my free time, I enjoy biking, cooking, and playing the violin, as well as spending time with my friends. My professional goals are to become a French teacher and possibly work abroad in foreign relations.
