Robert Ruggio

Robert Ruggio is a SUNY Oswego alum, earning his MBA from the School of Business after receiving his BS in Computer Science from Hawaii Pacific University. He also holds an Advanced Graduate Study Certificate in Applied Project Management from Villanova University and has extensive experience in project management, information systems, and business consulting with a specialization in IT project leadership and business performance improvement across energy sector projects. Additionally, he has experience building, launching, and sustaining entire Project Management Offices (PMO), as well as standardizing management practices and methodologies, and automating recurring processes where possible.
More recently, Professor Ruggio has provided project management support for DOE Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability SGIG program across 14 projects with a total budget of $1.5 billion which included two award winning projects for smart grid project of the year and smart meter project of the year by POWERGRID International. He has worked for Energetics Incorporated, Constellation Energy, WEBGIO.com, and served two tours in the U.S. Navy.
Research
Extensive experience in project management, business consulting, and information technology with a specialization in IT Project Leadership, Six Sigma, and Agile methodologies to significantly enhance business processes.
Awards and honors
- Two award winning projects for smart grid project of the year Smart meter project of the year by POWERGRID International
- Winner, Microsoft Windows Server Challenge (Third Place, 900 Entrants Worldwide spanning 70 Countries, Microsoft Corporation).
- Led oldest plant process computer upgrade project in United States history at Nine Mile Point - Unit 1. System upgrade has contributed to the longest run of the plant in its history.
