Members of the campus community are encouraged to save the date and consider participating in the 1861 Giving Challenge to support SUNY Oswego students.

On Thursday, Sept. 30 -- one week from today -- the effort seeks participants to secure a matching gift from a famed alumnus.

Al Roker, a 1976 alumnus, weatherman and host of NBC's "Today" show, will donate $50,000 to Oswego if 861 people make a gift in 1,861 minutes, starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, through 3:01 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
