The SUNY Oswego Advisement Center is hiring Advisement Guides for the spring 2023 semester.

The Advisement Guide program groups experienced SUNY Oswego students with incoming freshmen to aid in their transition to college and enhance their first-year experience. Advisement Guides work to assist students by providing academic support and linking students to campus resources.

Advisement Guides complete a training after being hired by the Advisement Center. They take a one-credit upper division course their first semester in the program while completing three office hours per week. Opportunities for internship credit are available as early as the second semester as a guide. After internship credit has been earned, there is an opportunity to be paid.

You must meet the following criteria in order to become a guide:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student at SUNY Oswego during both the fall and spring semesters of the upcoming academic year;
  • Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior;
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA;
  • Be knowledgeable about SUNY Oswego;
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • And be self-motivated and have leadership potential.
