SUNY Oswego's African Student Organization is celebrating 20 years of being a Student Association-recognized organization at this institution. with a birthday day party on Friday, Dec. 6, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. Doors open at 6 p.m., with event to begin by 7 p.m.
The Owambe event is a lavish, lively, and extravagant party deeply rooted in Nigeria's Yoruba culture, though it has become popular across other parts of the country, organizers said. These events are typically held to celebrate significant life occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, naming ceremonies, funerals or other milestones.
This event will feature professional hosts, DJs, and food recognized and appreciated in the African community.
