Brightspace has officially replaced Blackboard as of today, Monday Aug. 22. All SUNY Oswego courses taught or supplemented with Blackboard in the past will now be taught in Brightspace.

Brightspace logins

To login to Brightspace, head to oswego.edu/mylearning. There is also a Brightspace link under the profile icon next to the search button on the oswego.edu website.

Brightspace logins require the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA). You’ll use your current password along with a code from an app or phone to login. If you haven’t already set it up, you can visit the MFA website to get started.

Brightspace third-party tool integrations

As the college heads into the semester, there are a few integrations with Brightspace that are still being worked on. These include: Starfish, TK20, Google Workspace, LinkedIn Learning and Qwickly Tools. The digital learning environment (DLE) transition team is working with SUNY Admin to have them up and operational as soon as possible. The current target is near the end of the first week of classes.

Accessing Brightspace courses

Faculty should make sure courses are listed in the “Fall 2022” semester and they have been activated so students can access them.

Students who are taking classes that use Brightspace should see them under “My Courses.” If they aren’t showing, the professor might not be using Brightspace or they might not have made the course available to students yet. Students who recently registered for a course should allow a few hours from the time of registration for Brightspace to be updated.

Blackboard decommissioning

Effective Thursday, Aug. 18, Blackboard logins are available to faculty and staff only for the fall semester. Faculty who allow students to finish incomplete summer session courses taught or supplemented with Blackboard can request student access to Blackboard through the CTS Help Desk.

Departments that have references to Blackboard on their own departmental websites or other materials should update those to refer to Brightspace.
